Anons, found this post on a FB group I frequent, hit a nerve.
You guys, I implore you to write your senators/represenatives, no matter what state you reside. At best they listen, at worst, it gets trashed. And in the middle, creates heartburn. In the next post, I will copy the letter I wrote to my senators…
Dear Sen. Cruz and Sen. Cornyn
This is the very FIRST letter I have ever written to ANY of my Senators from Texas. And from what I can remember, perhaps the second letter I have EVER written to a politician of any stripe. Even then, I did not recieve a responce, even the perfunctionary form letter.
To say that these times are challenging would be THE understatement of my lifetime! Perhaps yours as well. While I will admit that this note may fall onto deaf ears, at least I can look into the mirror and exclaim 'I tried'. I am a proud member of the 'silent majority', and mildly ashamed that I have not participated more. I do vote, however.
I have read several reports that Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate leader, has/had encouraged/threatened your fellow Senators (perhaps you) NOT to challenge the electoral votes that you all must count, and certify, on Janurary 6th, 2021. These reports I believe! May I encourage you to immediately, and publicly denounce Mr. McConnell's actions and pubicly declare your intentions to challenge the electoral votes cast. I do understand that the Senate is the 'upper-chamber', thus requiring a 'higher' level of civility. And I do understand that committee assignments, etc. are important. And again, these are challenging times, and the need for "Sunshine Patriots" is limited. Ask yourself, '…what are you going to tell your kids, your grand-kids, your great-grandkids'? Is the committee assignment worth it?
I am sure BOTH of you are aware of the allegations Mr. McConnell being tied to China via his Foremost shipping company as well as his 'brother-in-law'; via his wife, that have documented close ties with China. This is a fact that I am certain of. These arrangements, I cannot fault, but given todays controversy of Chinas involvement in todays events, I do not believe Sen. McConnell's intentions and actions are gueninely altruistic. Please forgive any mis-use of the English language and pronunctiuation.
Sen. Cruz, I admire your offer/effort to argue the 'Texas Case' before the SCOTUS. My kids and I thank you! I have also seen many reports of Chief Justice John Roberts, among others on the SCOTUS being opposed to the 'Texas Case'. Perhaps before it was even heard. I am trying my best not to make assumptions (we both know what that spells), but I have seen documents and photos of not-so-flattering exploits of the Chief Justice.
I hope this note reaches your eyes and ears. And do know, my family keeps both of you, and YOUR families, staff, and co-workers in our prayers. These are challenging times.
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
