Do we not feed the cattle that thresh the grain any more? Is not the laborer worthy of his hire?
Does God leave those who are his own to go hungry? Are they not to have sustenance and covering? Is "preaching Christ and him risen" to be a suicide pact?
No to all of these. Please rethink matters.
You need to discern between greed and the modest sustenance that preachers of God's word are entitled to.
Most of us work other jobs to feed ourselves. Sometimes we lose those jobs because we've had to choose God over career. Seldom will our families suffer more than briefly for that decision. If our means of living were modest before and we have learned to be frugal savers, we may never even feel the pinch that those who had put more faith in the world know when the world discards them.
Paul made tents to support himself when he has in one place or another … but not while he was on the road. And yet Paul's physical needs were met. While he was blind and intensely vulnerable, his former enemies cared for him. They bandaged his eyes. They fed him. They led him to the latrine and helped him wash.
And, at that time, Paul had not even begun to serve God rightly.
