NYC Restaurants to Ban Cuomo from Dining

Posted on December 18, 2020 by The Coney Island Blog in Visitors // 2 Comments

Struggling restaurant owners city-wide are permanently banning New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo from setting foot into their establishments.

Effective immediately.

According to bar owner Larry Baird ā€œ He can eat at some shitty roadside diner outside of Albany but he will not be served anywhere in New York City, known universally as the worldā€™s greatest dining destination! If he has to use the restroom he can go pee on my street-corner! Thatā€™s what he wants anyway!ā€

Former life long Coney Island resident Val Torre said that heā€™s finally moving to Florida. ā€œItā€™s 70 degrees every day. My Coney Island childhood friends have all retired to Florida now! All the restaurants and bars are open and the grannies live!ā€

Many members of the Facebook Group NYC Restaurants Open applaud the Executive Order banning Cuomo from being served at all New York City establishments. One member stated ā€œCompletely schizophrenic behavior! How are they coming up with these rules is beyond any logical reasoningā€

Another furious lifelong New York resident exclaimed ā€œ He can dine at Gracie Mansion if he wants hospitality in Manhattan. He ainā€™t getting it here!ā€

No word yet from the Governorā€™s Office on how Cuomo feels about the lifetime ban.

Governor Cuomo Should Take a Polygraph Test, Just Like He Demanded of Brett Kavanaugh

BY MATT MARGOLIS DEC 18, 2020 3:23 PM ET

Governor Andrew Cuomo is reportedly on Bidenā€™s shortlist for attorney general.

Heā€™s also been accused of sexual harassment by a former aide.

The governor has denied the allegations, of course, but there still ought to be an investigation.

But if Cuomo really is potentially going to be the attorney general of the United States, the top law-enforcement officer of the nation, we need some answers quickly. Perhaps he should follow his own advice and take a polygraph test.

Back during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, when Democrats tried to thwart his nomination with bogus accusations of sexual assault, Governor Cuomo had a grand idea that Kavanaugh should take a polygraph test.

ā€œPresident Trump, you said you would watch the hearings today. I believe Dr. Fordā€™s testimony is very compelling. Only a political skeptic could find a reason to disbelieve her,ā€ Cuomo said. ā€œWhat is her possible motive to lie? In any event, I fear this will just increase the political polarization. Whatever happens, your decision will be tainted for history and with it the credibility of the Supreme Court.ā€ He went on to say:

ā€œHere is one basic fact that badly hurts Judge Kavanaugh: Why wonā€™t he take a polygraph? Dr. Ford did. If he does not take a polygraph test, it is the ultimate, ā€˜he said, she said.ā€™ It is the one powerful piece of evidence that seriously damages his credibility and the credibility of his Republican supporters, including yourself. You can and should ask him to take the test. If he refuses, you should pull the appointment. It will show at least a modicum of fairness on your part. If you do not insist that Judge Kavanaugh take a polygraph, it will be further evidence that you are putting political motivation over your constitutional obligation. Do not aid and abet a lie. Demand a polygraph.ā€

Fordā€™s testimony made for great theatre but it was full of contradictions that undermined her credibility, and the polygraph results received by the Senate Judiciary Committee were incomplete, only providing the results for two specific questions. Those two questions were based on a handwritten statement, not multiple specific questions about the incident that she alleged occurred. That statement included revisions like cross-outs and added words as if the question was manipulated ā€” as if perhaps the original answer was exculpatory.

But Cuomo believed the whole thing could have been cleared up had Kavanaugh just taken his own polygraph test, suggesting that failure to do so was proof of guilt.

So why hasnā€™t Cuomo volunteered to take a polygraph test to prove his innocence? Mr. Could-Be-Attorney-General will no doubt face questions about the allegations by the Senate if heā€™s nominated. But, perhaps worse for him, is that he might not get nominated at all if these allegations arenā€™t cleared up before then.

The media may have taken a brief second or two to cover this story, but itā€™s already faded away. Maybe Cuomo thinks he can just ride it out and people will forget? Maybe he is afraid a polygraph test will strongly suggest heā€™s guilty. But make no mistake: if heā€™s nominated it will come back to haunt him. The position of attorney general requires Senate confirmation, and you can bet Senate Republicans will bring up the allegations.

Volunteer to take a polygraph, Governor Cuomo. Otherwise, by your own standard, you must be guilty.

Cuomo Sentences Small Businesses to Death with Minimum Wage Hike

BY RICK MORAN DEC 18, 2020 2:36 PM ET

Despite an unemployment rate of ten percent and about one-third of small businesses already shuttered as a result of his coronavirus lockdowns, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is apparently unsatisfied in his efforts in the state. So heā€™s decided to go ahead with a planned minimum wage hike.

Thatā€™s OK. All business people are rich, arenā€™t they?

Reason: The New York Department of Labor announced Wednesday that it will move forward with plans to hike the stateā€™s minimum wage on December 31. Under the stateā€™s phased-in minimum wage increase that started in 2016, businesses in New York City are already required to pay workers a minimum of $15 per hour. On December 31, the minimum wage in Long Island and Westchester County will increase by $1 to $14 per hour, and the minimum wage across the rest of the state will jump from $11.80 to $12.50 per hour.

Cuomoā€™s Labor Department considered canceling or postponing the increase ā€” especially after the governor reimposed many lockdown orders and promised more in the future. After all, ā€œminimum wageā€ is sort of irrelevant when no one is getting paid any wages at all.

But the fight for social justice and economic equality must go on ā€” even if it kills off every business in the state.

Greg Biryla, New York director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), told the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle that the Cuomo administrationā€™s reasoning for approving the minimum wage hike ā€œdefies logic.ā€ Even with assistance from the state and federal governments, 39 percent of NFIB members say they could be out of business in the next year.

Doesnā€™t Cuomo care about what heā€™s doing to these small businesses? The answer is no.

The infuriating thing is that the state is well aware of the additional burden it is creatingā€”the Cuomo administration just doesnā€™t seem to care. A report commissioned by the labor department to review the potential costs of hiking the stateā€™s minimum wage in the middle of a pandemic and economic crisis notes that ā€œCOVID-19 has dramatically changed the economic landscape, casting doubt on whether the capacity to absorb minimum wage increases without adverse impact can continue over the near-term.ā€

Bureaucratic understatement can be so maddening.

But the analysts add that ā€œAnecdotally, our research has found examples of job openings upstate offering wages well above $12.50,ā€ and conclude that ā€œthese examples could be interpreted as evidence that upstate businesses are able to offer the wages necessary to attract the workers they need.ā€

ā€œAnecdotallyā€ means they donā€™t have any hard data or evidence of any kind. I guess the bureaucratsā€™ Auntie Midge told them about how Hankā€™s Hardware Store in Schenectady was paying $13.00 an hour. She heard it from Uncle Bob, so itā€™s got to be true.

Cuomo is determined to ignore reality. The consequences of this idiocy will be felt by thousands of small businesses that might be willing to reopen their doors when the pandemic passes, but will be unable to afford the new wages until they get back on their feet. Cuomo has condemned these businesses to death.

Pentagon, Biden Transition Team Spar Over Canceled Meetings

BY RICK MORAN DEC 19, 2020 12:19 PM ET

Acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller has canceled all planned meetings between the Biden transition team and Pentagon officials, setting off some hysterical handwringing from the media.

The move is temporary, according to Pentagon officials, but Bidenā€™s transition lackeys are apparently still in campaign mode. They are ā€œconcernedā€ about ā€œan abrupt halt to the already limited cooperation,ā€ which sounds more like a candidate surrogate complaining than someone trying to set up a government.

Defense News:

Axios first reported Friday morning that acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, who was installed at the Pentagon days after the Nov. 3 election, had ordered scheduled meetings to be canceled. After the initial report, the Pentagon pushed back, saying the pause was a rescheduling of meetings for Friday due to ā€œcompeting prioritiesā€ for officials, and that meetings would open up again in the new year, following what was described as a planned two-week Christmas break.

What might those ā€œcompeting prioritiesā€ be? The Pentagon says they have an agreed-upon pause in the discussions as they break for the Christmas holidays for two weeks.

ā€œAfter the mutually-agreed-upon holiday pause, which begins tomorrow, we will continue with the transition and rescheduled meetings from today,ā€ the statement added. ā€œAgain, I remain committed to a full and transparent transition ā€” this is what our nation expects and the DoD will deliver AS IT ALWAYS HAS.ā€

However, at a Friday briefing, Biden transition spokespeople Yohannes Abraham and Jen Psaki denied there was an agreed upon holiday pause and called for the Pentagon to immediately restart the discussions.

Partisan hack Jen Psaki basically called out the Pentagon for lying: ā€œI donā€™t think we need to communicate that. I think you can make your own judgment about the information we provided.ā€

ā€œItā€™s not in our interest to provide inaccurate information about the status of our engagements,ā€ she added. ā€œOur preference is certainly for things to proceed as usual. That is our hope.ā€

This may be Donald Trump throwing a tantrum or it may be Miller trying to please his boss. Whatever it is, itā€™s not good.

Kori Schake, the head of defense studies for the American Enterprise Institute, called the delay in meetings ā€œboth disgraceful and actually dangerous, especially given the ongoing cyber incursions by a hostile foreign power ā€” something the Trump administrationā€™s decimation of cyber talent within civilian agencies of the government enabled.

ā€œThis decision is what the acting secretary is going to be remembered for, and itā€™s a terrible legacy for a short tenure,ā€ said Schake, a former national security official in the Bush administration.

Basically, it comes down to whom to believe. On the one hand, you have the acting Defense chief saying the pause was ā€œmutually agreed uponā€ and you have the Biden transition calling that a lie. Miller has shown himself to be an honest man ā€” at least, there have been no complaints about his integrity from people under his command. He enlisted in the army in 1983 and served until 2014, rising to the rank of colonel.

Psaki, on the other hand, was Barack Obamaā€™s mouthpiece. Lies came easily to her. It was her job to lie.

So who are you going to believe? Partisan hack Psaki or a guy who spent a couple of decades in special forces commands?

It's Not a 'Conspiracy Theory' When They Do It: Left Is Questioning Mitch McConnell's Vote Totals in Kentucky

BY RICK MORAN DEC 19, 2020 3:45 PM ET

I do so love liberal hypocrisy. What makes it so entertaining is that they are oblivious to their intellectual dishonesty and lack the capacity for introspection. It makes for unintentional humor when they canā€™t fathom why people laugh at their riotous inconsistency.

The latest installment of liberal hypocrisy comes from an article in the radical left publication Raw Story. It seems that some liberals are questioning Senator Mitch McConnellā€™s surprisingly easy victory over Democrat Amy McGrath. The author of the piece, Allison Greene, is blissfully unaware that sheā€™s asking some of the same questions asked by Trump supporters in the aftermath of the election.

Just whatā€™s fishy about the vote?

ā€“ McConnell racked up huge vote leads in traditionally Democratic strongholds, including counties that he had never before carried.

ā€“ There were wide, unexplained discrepancies between the vote counts for presidential candidates and down-ballot candidates.

ā€“ Significant anomalies exist in the stateā€™s voter records. Forty percent of the stateā€™s counties carry more voters on their rolls than voting-age citizens.

ā€“ Kentucky and many other states using vote tabulation machines made by Election Systems & Software all reported down-ballot race results at significant odds with pre-election polls.

Do you mean to say that a lot of counties in Kentucky have more registered voters than voting-age citizens? Perish the thought! Someone should have told her to ask the cities of Milwaukee, Detroit, and dozens of other Democratic states, cities, and counties how they ended up with more voters than voting-age citizens. Iā€™m sure it would be very instructive.

Just asking questions, you say? Yesā€¦and your point is? The point is that Democrats are allowed to ask questions but if Republicans dare question the results of an election itā€™s a ā€œconspiracy theory.ā€

As for the rest, Hot Airā€™s Jazz Shaw performs the necessary lobotomy on Ms. Greeneā€™s gray matter.

They next note ā€œwide, unexplained discrepancies between the vote counts for presidential candidates and down-ballot candidates.ā€ Yes, itā€™s called ticket-splitting. Did Ms. Greene fail to notice that Joe Biden allegedly won the popular vote in a ā€œlandslideā€ while the Democrats lost a significant number of seats in the House and are barely hanging on to their majority there? Funny how that works, huh?

How about those ā€œsignificant anomaliesā€ in the voter rolls and the fact that 40% of Kentuckyā€™s counties record more registered voters than living, voting-age citizens? Yes, we know. Thatā€™s true of a lot of primarily Democratic counties all over the country, but you didnā€™t seem to take issue with it when a Democrat was winning. Iā€™ve been railing about the need to clean up the nationā€™s voter rolls for years but nobody ever listens. Iā€™m so sorry this is happening to you.

This is what happens when you get someone imbued with ā€œthe true faithā€ to write about something she knows nothing about. Itā€™s like asking an Islamic fanatic to write about Christianity. The results can be entertaining.

And finally, Greene notes that vote totals recorded by the Election Systems & Software voting machines were ā€œat significant oddsā€ with pre-election polling. Really? Ya think? A very brief Google search will produce enough stories about how the polls were once again a steaming pile of hot garbage to fill up an encyclopedia. I would also note the irony in a liberal complaining about the Election Systems & Software machines while not uttering a peep about Dominion. But heyā€¦ you do you, Alison.

We eagerly await Allisonā€™s Greene next article about how strange and suspicious the vote in the presidential election turned out.
