Sydney lockdown: NSW coronavirus cases rise as new restrictions introduced

There haves been another 30 cases of coronavirus in NSW as the Northern Beaches cluster grows.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said 28 of those cases were already linked to the Avalon cluster.

"We have not seen evidence of massive seeding outside of the northern Beaches community," she said.

Restrictions have been expanded for the Greater Sydney area, with no more than 10 people allowed in a home.

This will be in place until midnight on Wednesday as a precaution.

The city will also revert back to the four square metre rule in all indoor settings, apart from the family home.

There will be no dancing, apart from wedding bridal parties of up to 20.

There is also no singing and no chanting except for places of worship, with a maximum of five allowed in those settings.

Greater Sydney restrictions include the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains, but not regional NSW.

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said there are two mystery cases among the 30, but they live in close proximity to the Avalon cluster.

Dr Chant warned infected people from the Avalon cluster had been to multiple venues outside of the Northern Beaches.

She asked all residents of the Greater Sydney area to stay across updates on the NSW Health website.

"We know people from the Northern Beaches may have travelled since this outbreak emerged and the minister will be announcing that those individuals are expected to comply with the same requirements as Northern Beaches residents," she said.

"Remember that we also haven't mapped out the exact path by which this infection seeded in the Northern Beaches.

"And because of those levels of uncertainty, it is critical that anyone with symptoms across NSW get testing if they have the most minor of symptoms."

CDC Issues New Guidelines Regarding Allergic Reactions to COVID-19 Vaccines

In December, the US Food and Drug Administration issued emergency use authorisation for two vaccines, Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech. The country remains the nation worst affected in the coronavirus pandemic, having registered over 17 million cases and at least 315,000 deaths.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed in a Saturday statement that it has learned of reports on a handful of people experiencing "severe allergic reactions", also known as "anaphylaxis", after receiving a shot of the coronavirus vaccine.

The agency issued new guidelines, outlining that people with a history of severe allergic reactions to things not related to vaccines - such as food, animals, environmental or latex - may still get vaccinated.

"If you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to any ingredient in a COVID-19 vaccine, CDC recommends that you should not get that specific vaccine", CDC said in the new guidelines. "If you have had a severe allergic reaction to other vaccines or injectable therapies, you should ask your doctor if you should get a COVID-19 vaccine. Your doctor will help you decide if it is safe for you to get vaccinated."

CDC also noted that those who experienced an allergic reaction to the first shot of the vaccine, should not get the second.

According to Fox News, there have been six allergic reactions after an inoculation among 272,000 shots given to date. The reactions reportedly occurred within the recommended observation window, which is half an hour for those with a history of severe allergic reactions and 15 minutes for others.

The CDC outlined that all people who receive the vaccine be physically monitored at the site.

In December, two vaccines were approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use - Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech. Several prominent political figures, including Vice President Mike Pence, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have been inoculated publicly, while US President-elect Joe Biden announced he would receive a shot on Monday.

The first wave of vaccinations began in the US last week, with the use of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.

The United States remains the nation worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic, with over 17 million cases and at least 315,000 related deaths.

Florida State Rep Says GOP Establishment Blocked Him From Committees Over America First Views

"Establishment Republicans attacking conservative members is not leadership"

Anthony Sabatini, a strongly pro-Trump Florida State Rep, has claimed swamp Republicans blocked him from committee positions for his views.

In a letter posted to Twitter, Florida State Rep Anthony Sabatini, one of the most pro-Trump Republican members of the Florida House, revealed that he was only given four legislative committee assignments, with every other non-commitee chair receiving either five, six, or seven. Sabatini was also the sole second-term Republican to not be given a chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, or whip position.

Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls at the time claimed it was simply “accidental.” Sabatini formally requested that he correct the “error” by being appointed to a similar number of committees as his colleagues. However, as Sabatini noted, Speaker Sprowls “has the power and authority to instantaneously correct the commitee assignments”.

“[As a result], it seems it would be extremely difficult to counter the assertion that the committee assignment – in addition to the decision to be denied a chairmanship, vice-chairmanship or whip position – could be understood to be something other than intentional treatment considering the quickness in which it could be remedied and the modesty of the request,” said Sabatini.

Speaking to Media Right News, Sabatini said that Speaker Sprowls is against many of the things he stands for. “I filed constitutional carry, campus carry, etc…. [but Sprowls] killed all the bills. I filed a bill to end the state’s ability to make mandatory vaccinations during an ’emergency.’ And sued 14 cities that have face mask laws. [Sprowls] is against all of that.”

An opinion article posted in the Orlando Sentinel seems to back up the possibility that he was attacked for supporting America First policies. The article directly calls upon Sprowls to “bench” Sabatini for his comments, including defending Kyle Rittenhouse:

New House Speaker Chris Sprowls has started handing out committee assignments in the Florida House. If Sprowls wants to make it clear that Sabatini’s incendiary stunts don’t reflect the Speaker’s own values, he’ll sideline Sabatini – and not let him anywhere near the crafting of public policy in this state. We’ll see if Sprowls is interested in pursuing a serious policy agenda or in playing footsies with extremists.

As of Saturday, Sprowls has yet to assign Sabatini to any committee positions. “Whether I was targeted for being an outspoke conservative or whether it was ‘unintentional’ is still to be determined,” he tweeted.

DAY 2 since I’ve been denied an amount of Committee assignments equal to my colleagues by Speaker @ChrisSprowls—whether I was targeted for being an outspoken conservative or whether it was “unintentional” is still to be determined. @FLGOPMajority https://t.co/COWLjEO6mH

Speaking exclusively to National File, Sabatini said that if the problem wasn’t fixed, “then it’s clear I’ve been targeted and attacked for being an outspoken, principled, pro-Trump conservative. Establishment Republicans attacking conservative members is not leadership – it’s petty, divisive, and sends a negative message to the conservative voters of our state.”

Sabatini has also spoken out strongly in favour of the recent planned challenge against the Electoral College votes of contested states in Congress on January 6th. Arizona State Representative Anthony Kern hinted to National File that Representative Andy Biggs will likely change the state’s 11 votes. Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville may also issue a challenge in the Senate.

MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: OBJECT ON JANUARY 6TH!
