Wouldn't the Marines only be involved since they are under direct control of the President and doesn't need congressional approval. Trump would be consulting with Marine Generals not the Army.
Perhaps Trump was letting the Army Generals know what he was planning with the Marines (which is it's own branch) and there would be no role for Army involvement.
Yeah, I was attempting to decode the language being use. Since the only mention was the Army wasn't going to have a role. Nothing about the other branches.
Unfortunately you are right. Some military branches are somewhat comped at the mid and high levels. Much like the DOJ and FBI. Not sure about the Marines though. I'd stack the up against any of those other branches.
My other thinking is why announce this way ahead of time? Unless it's to cause another reaction from the swamp and make them expend themselves even more while showing more of their hand.
