If the modern world has taught us anything, it's that age no longer correlates with wisdom or knowledge. The only reason being "old" meant anything in the past was because life was hard and many more people died relatively young. Now every useless desk jockey lives to 80 and can easily have the worldly knowledge of a 12yr old if they never bother to read, research and just watch TV all day. Contrast this with some young people who, thanks to the internet, have been researching the state of the world since they were children and can run circles around their supposedly "wise" elders who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.
