I can understand that. Let’s face it, almost everything has been shit since 9/11. Longing for a period when things seemed to be (relatively) stable and the future seemed alive with possibilities is psychologically attractive, perhaps even necessary. It shouldn’t be surprising, after this year, that people would seek to go back to a personal “golden age”.
Ultimately, it’s bullshit and courts disaster; but there’s also a growing sense of “nothing left to lose” gaining hold.
