Devin Nunes Won’t Join January 6 Electoral College Fight Because He Still Needs ‘To See What The Evidence Is’
Over a month after the election, Nunes still says he needs to see more evidence of voter fraud
In an interview with Newsmax’s Greg Kelly, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) said that he does not intend to join the January 6 Electoral College fight led by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), and endorsed by President Donald Trump, because over a month after the election he still needs “to see what the evidence is.”
Nunes first discussed the large number of election irregularities that have been reported in the media since the November 3 election, and seemed to agree that the election was stolen. However, Nunes attempted to shift blame to the Supreme Court for refusing to hear the Texas lawsuit that would have required contested states to submit their Electoral College votes through the legislature.
“I think the Supreme Court should have heard this, I don’t know if they can overturn what some states have already decided, but they could have a landmark decision that could spur action across the country,” said Nunes.
After Nunes noted the failure or unwillingness of the American court system to even hear cases regarding the November 3, Kelly asked about the upcoming Electoral College challenge.
Oddly, Nunes seemed to respond that the Electoral College challenge could not happen until courts were willing to hear cases, which according to Nunes, does not seem likely to happen.
“Unless there’s evidence in the court, I’m not sure of that.” Nunes said, “We need to see what the evidence is. We need to be able to present it. We need to be able to present it to the American public.”
This comes as a growing number of U.S. Representatives have joined Brooks’ coalition, with the most recent being Rep. Matt Gaetz over the weekend. Gaetz also announced that, after speaking with Senator-elect Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, he expects him to be the first U.S. Senator to join the January 6 challenge.
On January 6, Brooks intends to challenge the Electoral College votes from battleground states with allegations of widespread voter fraud. If a sitting Senator backs Brooks’ challenge, then the joint session of Congress will break and deliberate. Should the Republican-controlled Senate and Democrat-controlled House disagree, Vice President Mike Pence will theoretically be able to cast a tie breaking vote.

Joe Biden Receives Pfizer's COVID-19 Vaccine in Delaware Hospital
Latest moves by US President-elect Joe Biden come after top government officials such as Vice President Mike Pence and Surgeon General Jerome Adams were publicly vaccinated as part of a campaign to assure Americans of the vaccine's safety amid widespread skepticism.
Biden received his first of two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine on Monday during a televised event that took place on the same day that Moderna's vaccine began arriving at several US states.
The president-elect stressed to viewers that he was subjecting himself to the immunization in order to "demonstrate that people should be prepared when it's available to take the vaccine."

Two people smugglers found guilty over deaths of 39 migrants
Two members of an international people-smuggling gang have been convicted of manslaughter over the deaths of 39 people who were found in the back of a container truck in southeastern England.
A jury at London's Central Criminal Court found Romanian mechanic Gheorghe Nica, 43, and Northern Irish truck driver Eamonn Harrison, 24, guilty of the deaths of the Vietnamese nationals, who were found dead in the English town of Grays.
The victims, aged between 15 and 44, were found on October 23, 2019, inside a refrigerated container that had arrived by ferry from Belgium. The migrants came from impoverished villages and are believed to have paid people-smugglers to take them on risky journeys to better lives abroad.
Prosecutors said Harrison drove the container to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge for transport to the UK. Nica was described as the smuggling gang's ringmaster.
Two other suspects, Christopher Kennedy and Valentin Calota, were also convicted of people-smuggling on Monday at the end of a 10-week trial.
Several others have pleaded guilty in the case, including truck driver Maurice Robinson, 26, who picked up the container in England and has admitted 39 counts of manslaughter.
All will be sentenced later. The maximum sentence for people-smuggling is 14 years in prison, while manslaughter carries a maximum life sentence.
Kelly Matthews of Britain's Crown Prosecution Service said that "nothing can bring back the lives lost on that day or the loss caused by the horrible, unlawful and dangerous actions of these defendants.
"But we hope these convictions bring some measure of solace to the families in the knowledge that justice has been done," Matthews said.

Pro-abortion actress decries Stand Your Ground laws as 'BS,' 'permission to kill people'
'It helps nobody but people who want justified reasons to use a deadly weapon'
Actress and abortion activist Elizabeth Banks slammed "Stand Your Ground" laws in a recent Twitter thread, calling them "BS" and nothing but "permission to kill people."
Banks, who is an outspoken supporter of a woman's right to abort babies, said the laws, which are adopted in some form in 25 states and allow individuals to defend themselves where they stand, exist only to aid "people who want justified reasons to use a deadly weapon."
To prove her point, Banks recalled a childhood story in which she and friends were allegedly shot at with a bow and arrow while playing hide and seek around the neighborhood.
What did she say?
"Stand Your Ground is BS," she tweeted Friday. "We used to play hide and seek all over the neighborhood on summer nights. Intent was to play. We were kids but some of my cousins were big guys. There were a few easily-jumped fences in the neighborhood but also houses with no fences at all. A new neighbor moved onto our street. Apparently he mistook us hiding behind trees in his unfenced yard at 9pm for … burglars? Predators?"
"All of a sudden, an arrow was shot into the tree behind which we hid. From a professional bow and arrow," she continued. "This guy didn't yell out 'who's there' or 'get off my property or I'm calling the cops' or any other question or warning. He just shot at children. He hit the tree so it was seemingly a warning shot. Message received, WE yelled out that we were just playing and could he let us please run away without shooting. Then we ran."
The actress was responding to a bill passed in Ohio on the same day that would remove the requirement for citizens to first attempt to retreat before shooting a firearm in self-defense. On Saturday, Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signaled he may veto the bill, arguing it isn't the right time to bring it up.
"Also sometimes our dog got loose. We would go into yards looking for her. All I can think about when people pretend Stand Your Ground is about anything other than permission to kill people are those moments when I myself stepped onto a neighbor's property," she went on. "Where is the evidence that Stand Your Ground does anything but endanger your neighbors, their dogs, their kids? It helps nobody but people who want justified reasons to use a deadly weapon."
"If I'd been shot and killed playing hide and seek, would that new neighbor have been able to just shrug his shoulders while living across the street from my grieving parents? With laws like this, probably yes," Banks concluded. "I don't want to live in a world where we fear our neighbors so much that we can't freely lose a ball/dog/frisbee or cut through somebody's yard to avoid harassment — all things I have done. What yards did you wander into and why?"
This writer's perspective
While Banks' story is certainly compelling, it is completely unfair of her to say that "Stand Your Ground" laws only exist to empower criminals who want to kill children. On the other hand, Banks has no issue whatsoever with some people being allowed to indiscriminately kill children via abortion procedures.
In an interview with People last year, the actress, who has helped raise significant funds to expand abortion rights, argued that such rights "are human rights."
"Women should have bodily autonomy, and there is no equality for women without them being able to decide when and with whom to bear children," she added.
