Some scholars believe the three Magi of the Bible were actually Zoroastrians who practiced a faith of "mysticism" and used the stars to divine the future. This presents a conundrum to many devout Christians, because the Magi came to worship Christ, according to the words of the Bible, and yet they might also be what are considered "pagans". As they arrived "from the east," they weren't Jews, and so it's presumed the followed some ancient eastern pantheistic religion. Yet they were the ones who knew the location of the Messiah, through their star readings, and they are the ones who fell on their knees and worshiped Him. They provided the young Jesus with gifts of gold and valuables that could have enabled the family to afford to travel and avoid Herod. The Magi themselves are said to have defied Herod in their return home by alternate routes, rather than report back to Herod about what they learned. So who were they really? Makes me wonder if there has been a "Majestic 12" that extends back many millennia: "Wizards of Light" so to speak, who understood more about God's design but also understood many of the secrets around the science of the supernatural. So many mysteries in this movie.

An interesting footnote: Freddie Mercury's family were Zoroastrians.

Correction: they aren't actually pantheistic. I find that interdasting:

"According to the Zoroastrian tradition, Ahura Mazda is the supreme lord and creator; he represents all that is good. In this aspect, the religion is one of the oldest examples of monotheism, or the belief in one god."
