REPORT: Democrats’ EPA Leaker Misrepresented His Military Service

The former Environmental Protection Agency deputy chief of staff for operations, who’s behind a Democratic letter full of accusations against Scott Pruitt, reportedly misrepresented how long he served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Kevin Chmielewski’s resume claims he served for four years, from 1998 to 2002, but a Coast Guard spokeswoman told the Washington Free Beacon the EPA whistleblower only served for one year.

The Free Beacon also reported Chmielewski got two raises totaling $24,000 after working at EPA for three months, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Chmielewski got the raises under the same hiring authority he complained Pruitt had used to secure raises for two close aides.

A former Trump campaign official, Chmielewski, gave congressional Democrats a list of accusations against Pruitt, detailing the administrator’s alleged “wasteful spending” and “disregard for ethical and legal requirements.” Five Democrats, including Sens. Tom Carper of Delaware and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, signed a letter detailing Chmielewski’s accusations.

Chmielewski is also likely source for media reports surrounding Pruitt’s spending habits and alleged ethical lapses. Chmielewski was allegedly removed from his position at EPA for challenging Pruitt, but that hasn’t been confirmed, reports say.

‘Improper’: Judge Calls Climate Lawsuits A Conspiracy Against Energy Companies

California officials are using the courts to orchestrate a coordinated conspiracy to punish Exxon Mobil for the company’s views on climate change, a Texas judge has determined.

Judge R.H. Wallace’s conclusion contradicts a federal judge’s ruling in March suggesting activists are not colluding with city officials to bring down energy companies. Exxon and others have been battling a flurry of lawsuits alleging they should be held responsible for global warming.

Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and other California municipalities likely “brought these lawsuits for an improper purpose,” Wallace wrote in a court filing released Wednesday. He was referring to a series of lawsuits alleging Exxon and others are partially responsible for the effects climate change plays on infrastructure.
