First, it would never get that bad because by and large people are generally good, and like to create a positive society.
Second, I would welcome such an outcome, because it would be reminiscent of the wild west. I.e. if someone tries to do you harm, threatens your lively hood, you shoot them in the head, and have done with it. Nothing left to do but bury them and get on with your life.
