Could be an Advent calendar. There are 24 doors for 24 days before Christmas Eve. Kids open a door each day. There's a piece of candy inside each door.
They have them in Germany, not sure about other European counties, like Slovenia, but I would guess they do. Good bet melania had them as a kid.
