Trump Floats Idea of ‘Special Counsel’ to Investigate Election Fraud Allegations
President Donald Trump late Wednesday floated the idea of a “Special Counsel” to investigate election fraud allegations.
“After seeing the massive Voter Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election, I disagree with anyone that thinks a strong, fast, and fair Special Counsel is not needed, IMMEDIATELY,” the president wrote on Twitter. “This was the most corrupt election in the history of our Country, and it must be closely examined!”
This is the first time Trump has on Twitter personally suggested the idea of a Special Counsel to investigate allegations of election fraud. It comes the same day as Attorney General William Barr’s last day at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

U.K., EU Set to Announce Brexit Trade Deal After Fish Compromise
The U.K. and the European Union are on the verge of unveiling a historic post-Brexit trade accord as negotiators work through the night to put the finishing touches to a compromise on fishing rights.
The agreement, which will formally complete Britain’s separation from the bloc 4 1/2 years after the 2016 referendum, will comprise a deal for tariff and quota-free trade in goods and cooperation in areas from security to aviation.
While the outline of a deal was agreed on Wednesday, an announcement is now expected Thursday morning as chief negotiators in the European Commission’s headquarters in Brussels haggle over the exact wording of the final treaty.

Alibaba shares fall after reports of anti-monopoly probe by China
Shares of Alibaba fell as reports surfaced that the Chinese government is conducting an anti-monopoly probe into the tech giant.
China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said through official online channels Thursday it has opened an investigation into Alibaba over monopolistic practices.
The news comes on the heels of an increasing — and largely unexpected — push by Chinese authorities to rein in their biggest tech firms through regulatory action.

Trump’s Coup Attempt Could Cost Republicans the Senate
President Donald Trump refuses to concede the 2020 election. In meetings with lawyers and political allies, some of whom openly advocate martial law, he has discussed ways to seize voting machines and block implementation of the election results. Now he’s planning a showdown on Jan. 6, when Congress meets to certify the votes of the Electoral College. There’s almost no chance that Trump, by staging this fight, could keep the presidency. But he might manage to do something else: lose the Senate.

California conservatives rebuke Trump pardon of Duncan Hunter
OAKLAND — President Donald Trump's full pardon of Duncan Hunter isn't playing well in the convicted congressman's home turf — even among GOP conservatives that have supported Trump.
Jon Fleischman, publisher of the influential Flash Report and a former state GOP vice chair, is among a crowd of conservative Californians who excoriated the decision on Wednesday.
"If the President is going to pardon lawbreakers like Duncan Hunter he may as well pardon the Tiger King. If the bar is that low,'' Fleischman said on Twitter.
Trump granted a full pardon Tuesday to Hunter, who was set to begin an 11-month sentence at a federal prison in two weeks after pleading guilty to stealing campaign funds for personal use.
Federal prosecutors indicted Hunter and his wife Margaret in 2018 for lavish spending of campaign donations on “items as inconsequential as fast food, movie tickets and sneakers; as trivial as video games, Lego sets and Play-doh; as mundane as groceries, dog food and utilities; and as self-indulgent as luxury hotels, overseas vacations, and plane tickets for themselves, their family members, and their pet rabbits Eggburt and Cadbury."

Trump Warns Iran of Retaliation After Attacks on U.S. Embassy in Baghdad
WASHINGTON — President Trump warned Iran on Wednesday that he would hold it accountable “if one American is killed” in rocket attacks in Iraq that the Trump administration and military officials blamed on Tehran.
In a Twitter post that came after a meeting with senior officials at the White House, Mr. Trump said that Iran was behind rocket attacks on the American Embassy in Baghdad on Sunday. “Some friendly health advice to Iran,” Mr. Trump tweeted. “If one American is killed, I will hold Iran responsible. Think it over.”
His post was followed by a statement from United States Central Command, which called the attacks on Sunday the largest in a decade. “The Dec. 20, 2020, rocket attack on the green zone in Iraq was almost certainly conducted by an Iranian-backed rogue militia group,” Capt. Bill Urban, a spokesman for Central Command, said in the statement. He added that the 21-rocket attack was “clearly NOT intended to avoid casualties.”

DOJ officials in 'ongoing discussions' about Hunter Biden special counsel, some say it's 'warranted': sources
High level officials within the Justice Department are in "onging discussions" on whether to appoint a special counsel to take over the investigation into Hunter Biden, with some believing it is "warranted," two sources familiar told Fox News Wednesday.
Attorney General Bill Barr, who resigned from his post last week and had his last day at the Justice Department Wednesday, said earlier this week that he had "not seen a reason" to appoint a special counsel to probe President-elect Joe Biden’s son, who is under federal investigation for his "tax affairs."
But one source familiar told Fox News on Wednesday that it is an "open discussion."
"It is an ongoing discussion," the source told Fox News. "No decisions have been made either way."
Another source told Fox News that some high level DOJ officials believe a special counsel is "warranted," and cited the special counsel statute.
"It was passed to deal with a potential conflict of interest of the attorney general or the president of the United States," the source told Fox News. "A president-elect coming in, where his appointed attorneys will be investigating his son? That’s textbook conflict."

Florida seniors next in line for COVID vaccines says Gov. DeSantis
Florida will ensure seniors will receive priority for the coronavirus vaccine over frontline workers, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday.
"We want to work to get this out to our senior population. We think that's very important to reducing mortality, reducing the number of people that need to be hospitalized for COVID-19," DeSantis said.
After a bitter debate, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance recommended that both seniors over 75 and frontline workers those who work in grocery stores, food production, law enforcement or teaching get the shot as part of "phase 1b."
DeSantis said he would eschew the recommendation for seniors over 65.
"It makes no sense for someone that’s 42 to jump ahead of somebody that’s 70," DeSantis said. "I want to make sure that if there’s one dose here in Pensacola left for this week, I want it to go to an elderly [person]."

Voting machine company executive sues Trump allies for defamation
Washington (CNN)An executive for a voting machine company that has been the target of conspiracy theories in the aftermath of Donald Trump's 2020 election loss and been baselessly accused of swinging the results against the President is suing his campaign and conservative media figures for defamation.
Trump has called Dominion Voting Systems "a disaster," and his supporters have pushed the conspiracy theory that the company deleted votes for Trump on its voting equipment and that Dominion's director of product strategy and security, Eric Coomer, helped subvert the election.
There is no evidence that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, and his administration and election officials have called it the "most secure" election in US history. President-elect Joe Biden won the popular vote by more than 7 million votes and the electoral map 306 to 232.
The lawsuit names as defendants the Trump campaign, Rudy Giuliani, Trump adviser Sidney Powell, conservative media outlets One America News Network and Newsmax Media, the right-wing website Gateway Pundit, and Colorado businessman and activist Joseph Oltmann, among others. CNN has reached out to those named in the lawsuit.

Teachers and school employees will be in the next round of people to get a Covid-19 vaccine in Ohio
(CNN)The next group of people to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in Ohio will be the state's teachers and school staff.
Ohio teachers and school staff including cafeteria workers, bus drivers, custodians and clerical workers along with any other worker who comes in contact with the children at that school will be in the next group of people to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, Ohio Governor MIke DeWine announced during a news conference Wednesday.
DeWine said he wants to start Covid-19 vaccinations mid-January and to offer them at all schools that want to continue or begin in-person learning.
DeWine hopes vaccinating teachers and staff will help get students back in school faster. Currently, 45% of all Ohio students are fully remote and 26% of students are in a hybrid model, or partially remote, DeWine said.

Border wall construction presses full steam ahead in final days of Trump administration
(CNN)At a secluded spot in southeast Arizona, the San Pedro River flows north from Mexico and crosses the United States border, running under a majestic canopy of tall cottonwood trees.
The river's winding path is a migration gateway and critical habitation for hundreds of animal species. The National Audubon Society for Arizona says 40% of bird species in North America spend part of their lives on the San Pedro River at some point.
But the US Border Patrol sees the river as a natural gateway of drug smuggling and illegal immigration into the United States.
In the waning days of the Trump administration, construction crews are rapidly building a 30-foot high steel bollard-style wall across the riverbed. Usually, the only sound you hear is the wind whipping through the golden leaves overhead. As you hike toward the spot these days, the clattering sound of construction crews takes over.
Environmentalists say the work disrupts the migration patterns that rely on the river.

FBI accuses Iran of threatening US election officials
(CNN)Iranian cyber actors were behind online death threats targeting US election officials, the FBI announced on Wednesday.
Officials said individuals associated with the Iranian regime operated multiple websites following the election, including one titled "enemiesofthepeople," which contained personal information and photos of government and private sector officials involved in managing the 2020 US election.
Among those targeted online were Christopher Krebs, the former head of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency, a person familiar with the FBI's investigation told CNN.
Krebs made news in the aftermath of the 2020 election by publicly refuting false claims by President Donald Trump and other Republican officials that there was mass voter fraud associated with the election. After fact checking conspiracy theories being pushed by Trump, Krebs was fired from his position at the Department of Homeland Security.
The online targeting of Krebs by Iranian cyber actors was first reported by The Washington Post, which also identified FBI Director Christopher Wray as one of the US government officials targeted online.
An FBI spokesperson declined to comment on the identities of US election officials threatened by Iran.

Sen. Loeffler said she would consider backing $2,000 checks
Georgia’s GOP incumbent senators fighting to keep their seats in the special runoff find themselves in a tough position after President Trump’s eleventh-hour demands for Congress to approve $2,000 stimulus check payments in coronavirus aid.
Sen. Kelley Loeffler, in a tight race against Democratic candidate, Rev. Raphael Warnock, said she would consider voting for the new figure, which Democrats originally pushed in the stimulus package if it diverted funds away from "wasteful spending."
"I'll certainly look at supporting it if it repurposes wasteful spending toward that," she said, during a campaign event Wednesday, reported The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Live virtual tours let travelers see the world from home this Christmas
For people staying safely at home this holiday season, new virtual tours let anyone with an internet connection tour famous Christmas destinations around the world.
Homebound travelers can book live interactive tours with local guides to learn about everything from the religious sites of Jerusalem to the department store displays of New York City.
In April, Airbnb launched its Online Experiences virtual program as “a new way for people to connect, travel virtually and earn income during the Covid-19 crisis,” according to the company’s website. Sessions are live, interactive and limited to small groups.
Canadian tour company ToursByLocals started live virtual tours last spring after international borders started closing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Of its more than 30,000 tours, 150 are now virtual.
“The idea was to provide our avid travelers with an opportunity to take their mind on a journey while remaining safe and socially distanced at home,” said Paul Melhus, CEO and co-founder of the firm.

Hong Kong’s Courts Are the Last Check on Beijing’s Growing Power
For decades, Jimmy Lai has embodied the spirit of defiance in Hong Kong. He fled Communist China at the age of 12 to work in a garment factory, launched a pro-democracy media empire after the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown and became one of the world’s best known critics of Beijing.
The city got a different glimpse of Lai on a recent Saturday in December: Shackled at the wrists, with a metal chain around his waist, the 73-year-old shuffled slowly into court flanked by two correctional officers.
Prosecutors charged Lai under a sweeping national security law imposed by Beijing in June, saying he colluded with foreigners by calling for sanctions against China. The judge among those designated by Hong Kong’s leader to hear security law cases denied bail while granting the prosecution more time to examine media interviews and about 1,000 tweets for more evidence. Hong Kong’s High Court eventually granted Lai bail on Dec. 23 on condition that he stay in his house and avoid giving interviews or posting on social media.
The trial of Lai, who denies wrongdoing, will test just how drastically Hong Kong has changed over the past six months. After decades of enjoying freedoms that don’t exist in mainland China, residents of the financial hub now face prosecution for voicing political views deemed threatening to the Communist Party – a breach of promises China made when Britain handed over the former colony in 1997.
The courts are on the front lines of this clash between two very different legal systems: One aimed at keeping the Communist Party in power, and another stemming from English Common Law tradition that aspires to treat everyone equally before the law. Chinese police, prosecutors and courts answer to a secretive Communist Party committee, and authorities can hold suspects in national security cases for long periods without trial.

President Trump Just Pulled A Power Move That Is Driving The Left Insane
We're almost a full four years into the presidency of Donald Trump and by now, you would think that the Democrats and the mainstream media would have some sense as to how he operates.
Apparently, they're too dumb or they're too blinded by their hatred.
President Trump is calling the Democrats bluff and he pulled a power move that is driving the left insane. With one tweet the President has called out the Democrats claims about the pandemic and the national election.
President Trump tweeted about the Democrats' wishing for the November election to be vote-by-mail.
“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history,” Trump wrote. “It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???”
So can President Trump delay the election without Congressional approval? Well, actually…yes.
It's called Directive 51.
The coronavirus pandemic has created a very easy context for Directive 51 which was a presidential directive signed on May 4th, 2007. The directive gives the president special powers during times of a “catastrophic emergency”, like an international pandemic.
Directive 51 can be used in case of a “catastrophic emergency” which is defined by any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the US population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions. It is also used to keep “continuity of government, meaning a coordinated effort within the Federal Government’s executive branch to ensure that National Essential functions continue to be performed during a (as defined above) catastrophic emergency.
Here’s the specific part about a President postponing elections due to a “catastrophic emergency.” When the directive was signed the liberal website slate.com wrote specifically about this issue. Just change the nuclear attack to an international pandemic.
