There's a military fort on the waterfront directly in line with where the bomb went off.

There are cadaver tunnels that used to go between Vanderbilt University & some other building and they seem to have run up 2nd ave.

If there is a tunnel down to the fort it would run perpendicular to 2nd Avenue.

This anon believes the bomb was detonated below ground (or that possibly a DEW was used to ignite something above ground which was used to set off chain reaction in the underground.)
