It doesn't need to alter the DNA.

It makes a protein. That's ALL it needs to do. That's ALL DNA does too - because DNA stays inside the nucleus - it can't leave - at least not as DNA. It leaves via mRNA. Which IS still the DNA code, just in another form so it can leave the nucleus.

So basically we skipped the DNA part and went right to the next step of mRNA.

 

The outcome is the same. mRNA makes proteins and proteins are what run your body on every level.

 

They tell us that the "spike" protein (which is the working end of how an antigen interacts with your immune system - it's a protein that fits into a specific binding site on your immune cells) so they tell us this will cause an immune response, which will cause your body to make antibodies.

 

OK. Fine I'll take their word on that. But that's not ALL it does. If it's similar enough to another "spike" protein it can mount an immune response for other things. And that's just the most basic, most PROBABLE outcome.

 

It could do all kinds of things that we have no clue about. Proteins are very specific. They fold in certain ways to they can fit into binding sites and cause phosphorylation, which actives certain mechanisms, which has downstream effects. Most of them are normal.

 

But we're fucking with nature here.

 

It's CODE you guys. You all understand code. One change has consequences in other places.

 

And they are adding Luciferase to act as a biological marker. Luciferase DOES insert itself into DNA. That's how you track shit over cell division. That's the whole purpose of Luciferase. When you change a cell in the lab and you want to track it downstream, you add in Luciferase (or some other glowing marker like GFP) so you can watch the effects of your experiment downstream through a microscope.

 

Luciferase takes this to a whole new level. That's TRANSFECTION. That's putting shit into DNA. That's gene expression.
