It's better to get the urine loading test which shows your iodine levels opver 24 hours, but yes, you are correct. Bromine replacing iodine in the US diet is intentional.

Yeah, agreed, it's a big problem. But do be careful supplementing on your own - too much can make you very ill. Happened to me. Try maybe 5mg a day or so.
