my guess: he's bait for those who take things too far. He's configure to handle the threats that might (but probably don't) exist for a skeptic of his sort.

so he's being the heroic skeptic who will spy out those who would betray MAGA by being senseless and violent.

He's basically put out there as a face to direct the attention of over zeolous people
