WATCH: Massive fire caused by explosion engulfs home, damages multiple others
HOUSTON – A homeowner said she is glad to be alive after her house exploded into a fireball that damaged multiple homes in southeast Houston.
Homeowner Jewell Meyers told KPRC 2 photographer Wladimir Moquete that she noticed the smell of gas Sunday morning.
The explosion caused windows in nearby homes to blow out and also left a hole in the neighbor’s house and created a massive fire that engulfed Meyers’ home.
“I’ve lost everything,” Meyers said. “What can I do? I am 82 years old. What can I do?
Four homes total were damaged by the explosion. One across the street and the two neighboring homes on either side of Meyers’ home.
Authorities said there were no injuries reported in the blast or the fire. Officials have not yes confirmed the cause of the explosion.

HOUSTON: MAN BURNED IN CHRISTMAS EVE HOME EXPLOSION IN HEMPSTEAD
HEMPSTEAD, Texas (KTRK) – Investigators say one person was burned in a home explosion in Hempstead overnight.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, investigators got calls for an explosion on 5th Street near St. Barbe.
Video from the area shows the damage done by the blast, with debris scattered throughout the street.
When firefighters first arrived, multiple buildings were on fire. They were able to extinguish the flames quickly.
"There's fire, there's civilians that are running up toward it," one firefighter could be heard saying on Range Cast scanner. "We need more people here to help with control."
The Waller County Fire Marshal's Office says a man went to the house to pick up some clothes and when he opened the door, the home exploded. Investigators say he doesn't live at the home.

Houston: Deadly house explosion in Tomball may have been intentional, police chief says
Homes nearly five miles away from the scene were rattled by the explosion, according to officials.
Tomball police said the blast was ignited by a combination of flammable liquid and natural gas at a home in the 200 block of Vernon Street late Wednesday night.
Tomball Police Chief Jeff Bert said the incident may have been intentional and was a suicide, though an investigation is still being conducted.
