Leave it alone, I'd say. For one, a flag officer isn't going to be handling or dealing with a nobody clown asset directly. Two, like you say, background checkers (I use one myself) are really bad sometimes for establishing relationships. I've tested out a few people I've known very well for all my life, and what the checker says is totally wrong in certain details.

third, if a MI actually does have a relationship with AQW, he'll be smart enough to keep that connection fully clean so that a background checker isn't going to pick it up. Most often the "possible relationships" I've come across that were false positives were people who lived next door, or lived in the same apartment at totally different times.

Try to find other links through common possible relationships - A knows B and X knows B, but A doesn't know X.
