Although the cynical projections are somewhat useful in a sense of "pragmatism" (oops, there's that "ism" [i, Self, Me] in that accounting for worn out paradigms such as "there is no such thing as selflessness", or not being able to see the contradiction in "I only believe testable imperial data", still most every cynic started as an optimist.
