Read article today. Proxy voting in House expires with the new Congress. New rules are not voted on until Speaker is elected.

Premise is that the D's have such a small majority that Pelosi may not be re-elected speaker (at least 3 D's wont support her). Meaning McCarthy could end up Speaker and control the floor since over 90 D's have been 'phoning it in' for months.

Now… if that's the case, quite possible that R's actually have a "majority" in the House for a while (yeah, you can call for a new vote when enough D's show up, but the Speaker controls what reaches the floor and actually gets a vote…)

So.. election contest on Jannklwith an 'R' (temporary) majority?
