What makes you think that satan is no longer relevant? Satan is chained and the serpent’s head is bruised by the death and resurrection of Jesus, but we live between the times - the Kingdom of God has been inaugurated, but not yet consummated - evil is still present. But it does not have dominion while the Gospel is preached and the strong man’s house is plundered of souls.

Jesus’ return will be in glory, to judge the living and the dead. It is to end the current cosmos and to consummate his Kingdom in the New Heavens and the New Earth. This is not a recapitulation but a final reckoning that will stand for all eternity.
