you implied it with your snarky condescending comment. the "evidence" of "causality" is the noted correlation between eruptions and the solar minimum (when cosmic rays from deep space are at a maximum). what (You) are asking for is an explanation of some mechanism that is consistent with your (limited) preconception of science. you've confused THEORY with FACTS, and you have their importance back-asswards.

"cosmic rays" are just that… they come from deep space, beyond our solar system. it may seem paradoxical at first, but during solar max when our sun is spewing out the largest amount of solar wind, it creates a "heliopause" similar to the earth's van allen belts, and shields the entire solar system from cosmic rays. during solar minimums, the earth receives the greatest doses of cosmic radiation from deep space. more energetic, and more exotic particles and energies.
