i just realized after i posted this the actual context of the ending of this movie. Sexuality is often depicted in history as a vehicle of enlightenment that can guide one's soul down the path or light, or darkness. it was the "sins of the flesh" that ultimately led to the fall of man in the book of genesis after being "enlightened" by the serpent. And it was a 6 day and 7 night fuck fest that turned enkidu from a mindless man of the beasts, living in the wild, into a man of knowledge and worldly things in the epic of giglamesh. ultimately leading to his demise.

the ending scene of 40 year old virgin is a cheeky allegory for steve carell's character being enlightened, or entering the "age of aquarius" after having sex for the first time.

sounds silly, but when you see this kind of thing in movies, its never an accident. its always meant to mean something.

im not arguing dogma with you. its a widley held belief that knowledge comes with sexuality. the two are mutually exclusive. thats why adam and eve didnt realize they were naked and covered up untill after eve had committed the original sin.

>"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers

as in the physical embodiment of man. which the rulers were not. i dont interpret that to reference sins of the flesh at all.
