Anon, I can relate. I was just dealing with these same thoughts and questions a few hours ago.
It is important after praying to be silent for a while. Silent in the mind. If you recognize that your thinking does you no good in that moment, and you drop it, and patiently listen, then you will hear His voice. You will feel His presence in the room with you. And the more you learn to be still, and silent, and to listen, the more stable you will be come.
