It creates a conflict.
On one hand, I hate to take money from the government.
On the other hand, I wouldn't be alive without money from the government.
Take your situation and multiply it by a million. Everyone has similar issues. I just got federal unemployment. Otherwise, I'd be in freefall. Be thankful you've got parents. I'm the same age and the black hats took out my parents many years ago. Think of how you'd be without their help. Got to be thankful for whatever we have. There's always others worse off.
