After a Trump-appointed judge dismissed the lawsuit launched by Rep. Louie Gohmert and several Trump electors today, Gohmert appeared on Newsmax to deliver a stunning rebuke to the absentee American court system, and noted that his legal team is already working to appeal the case to the 5th Circuit Court.

Gohmert’s lawsuit sought to clearly explain the Constitutional obligations afforded to Vice President Mike Pence during the joint session of Congress on January 6. Some believe that Pence’s role is merely ceremonial, while other legal scholars have offered analysis indicating Pence has the Constitutional duty to ensure only legal electoral college votes are included.

Rather than making a potentially landmark decision, the Trump-appointed judge merely dismissed the case, as both Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked earlier this week.

“With regard to the standing issue, if a Member of Congress who is going to object to electors that were fraudulently sent there, and the state has sent two sets, and I don’t have standing to go to court,” said Gohmert. “If I don’t have standing to do that, nobody does. And if the appropriate defendant is not the Vice President, that under the Constitution has the power to make that determination, then there is none.”

Gohmert repeatedly asserted that the court system is the American people’s last attempt to reach justice before, typically, violence becomes viewed as the answer.

“This is an example of when institutions that our Constitution created to resolve disputes so that you didn’t have to have riots and violence in the street, it’s when they go wrong,” said Gohmert.

“The bottom line is, the court is saying we’re not going to touch this. You have no remedy. Basically, in fact, the ruling would be that you’ve got to go to the street and be as violent as Antifa and BLM,” said Gohmert.

Gohmert also noted that still, only days before January 6, no courts in the United States have been willing to hear evidence of fraud, but have instead almost exclusively dismissed cases based on issues of standing or other technical issues.

“There still has not been one court, state or federal, that has had an evidentiary hearing and allowed the evidence of fraud to come in and be introduced.” Gohmert explained, “So all this stuff about it being debunked, unsubstantiated, those are absolute lies.”

However, Gohmert said he intends to appeal his case to the 5th Circuit Court, which he says boasts “some incredible judges” who he expects will make a decision prior to January 6.

“Our attorneys are preparing the appeal to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, there are some incredible judges on that court,” said Gohmert.

“So we are very hopeful that they will say, ‘You know what, if our courts are not gonna be used in this dispute, and the litigant doesn’t have standing, and the defendant isn’t the appropriate, and the jurisdiction is not there, then we have no business having courts. We’re worthless.'”

When asked if he believes the 5th Circuit Court will hear the case, Gohmert indicated that he is optimistic.

“That’s my hope and prayer, and yes, I think they will take some action before the 6th, whatever it is.”

AG Letitia James recuses herself from ParCare COVID-19 vaccine fraud probe

State Attorney General Letitia James has recused herself from the ParCare vaccination probe “to avoid even an appearance of conflict,” her office told The Post.

The AG’s office will still investigate whether ParCare Community Health Network “fraudulently” obtained 2,300 doses of the coveted Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, a case referred by Gov. Cuomo, but James will have “zero involvement,” officials said.

James is chummy with the boss of the embattled network, which runs four Brooklyn clinics, one in upstate Kiryas Joel and another in Harlem.

Gov. Cuomo and state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker have accused ParCare of misidentifying itself as a “qualified health center” to obtain the vaccine from the state Health Department.

ParCare said it administered 869 of 2,300 vaccine doses, and handed over the remainder, along with documentation “regarding the proper receipt of the vaccines.” The company denied any wrongdoing, and vowed to cooperate with the probe.

The recusal was announced after questions were raised whether James — a former City Councilwoman in central Brooklyn and NYC Public Advocate — is too friendly with PareCare CEO Gary Schlesinger.

“In order to avoid even an appearance of conflict, the Attorney General has personally recused herself from this matter,” a spokeswoman said in a statement.

A fixture in the Orthodox Jewish community, Schlesinger was photographed smiling broadly alongside James at a 2015 Democratic Party fund-raiser at Junior’s restaurant in downtown Brooklyn.

In January 2016, Schlesinger posted a Facebook photo of himself next to James and ParCare’s executive team, captioned, “catching up with the energetic NYC Public Advocate Letitia James to discuss healthcare needs of Brooklyn’s underserved communities.”

In 2017, Schlesinger posted a photo of himself and James “celebrating last night with my friend,” calling her the “future NYC mayor.”

In 2018, James ran for state attorney general instead of mayor. Schlesinger was a key supporter of James’ AG campaign, and reportedly was involved in running a PAC to help her get elected.

“I endorse Tish James, who is devoted to fair justice for all and religious liberty which is why I join Jewish community leaders and advocates to endorse” her, Schlesinger posted on Facebook, one of several messages urging followers to vote for her.

The history of Schlesinger’s political alliance with James, and Cuomo plopping the ParCare probe into the AG’s lap, has raised eyebrows.

“No one’s taking it seriously as a threat,” said an Orthodox Jewish resident. “It’s known she’s very good friends with the Hasidic community. She’s unlikely to do anything to jeopardize that relationship.”

Virginia State Sen. Ben Chafin Dies From COVID-19 Complications

Some horrible news has hit the wires early Saturday morning. Virginia state Sen. Ben Chafin (R) has passed away from complications due to COVID-19.

The senator's office confirmed to local news WTVR Richmond that Senator Chafin passed away on Friday night.

"The family of Senator Chafin thank the VCU Medical Center in Richmond for its vigorous care and heartfelt support during his two weeks of medical services there," his office said in a statement.

Senator Chafin was 60 years old and represented the 38th district for the last six years.

Gov. Ralph Northam (D) released a statement following Senator Chafin's passing:

"With the passing of Senator Ben Chafin, Southwest Virginia has lost a strong advocate—and we have all lost a good man."

"I knew Ben as a lawmaker, an attorney, a banker, and a farmer raising beef cattle in Moccasin Valley, working the land just as generations of his family had done before him. He loved the outdoors, and he loved serving people even more. He pushed hard to bring jobs and investment to his district, and I will always be grateful for his courageous vote to expand health care for people who need it."

The Roanoke Times reported that the senator contracted the virus in mid-December when he was hospitalized at VCU Medical Center in downtown Richmond.

Other Virginia lawmakers have contracted the deadly virus throughout the pandemic, but Senator Chafin has been the first to die from complications.

Last week, Louisiana Rep.-elect Luke Letlow (R) died of COVID-19 complications.

"It's devastating to our entire team," Louisiana State University Health Shreveport Chancellor G.E. Ghali told The New Star, adding that Letlow "had no underlying conditions."

The US closed out December with the deadliest and most infectious month since the beginning of the pandemic.

‘Beware of trap’: Iranian FM warns Trump ‘Israeli agents’ are preparing ‘attacks’ on US forces in Iraq to spark war against Tehran

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has accused Israel of plotting false flag attacks on Americans in Iraq in a bid to frame Iran and prompt Washington start an all-out war with Tehran.

Zarif on Saturday tagged Donald Trump on Twitter – the US president’s social media of choice – as he repeated the claim of a false flag plot.

New intelligence from Iraq indicate that Israeli agent-provocateurs are plotting attacks against Americans – putting an outgoing Trump in a bind with a fake casus belli.

The foreign minister then warned Trump against falling for the alleged Israeli plot. He said that any hostilities against Tehran will backfire not only for Washington but also for its chief ally in the Middle East.

“Be careful of a trap, [President Trump]. Any fireworks will backfire badly, particularly against your same BFFs,” Zarif wrote.

Iran's top diplomat first brought up the topic of an allegedly impending false flag attack earlier this week.

On Thursday, he revealed Tehran had received a tip about such a plan brewing from Iraqi intelligence. While Zarif did not name a culprit behind the alleged plot, the tone of his message suggested that the US itself was actively seeking a pretext for war with Iran. He scolded Trump for flying B-52s and sending “armadas” to the Gulf region “instead of fighting Covid in [the] US.”

The already hostile relations between Tehran and Washington have reached a boiling point recently due to the upcoming anniversary of the US assassination of Qassem Soleimani. The late Iranian general and leader of the elite Quds force within the country's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was killed in a drone strike outside Baghdad, Iraq on January 3 last year.

While Iran retaliated shortly after the attack by striking several military installations housing US troops in Iraq, it has repeatedly pledged to extract further revenge on the Americans. Late in December, shortly after a rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad, Trump vowed to hold Iran responsible for the potential death of any American in Iraq.

Iran's top officials openly cheered Trump's election defeat in November, with President Hassan Rouhani stating his US counterpart was just days apart from going into the "dustbin of history."

Days before the anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani’s assassination, Tehran has scoffed at a US media report of an alleged Iranian plot to ‘kill’ Donald Trump, arguing that political assassination is an American tactic.

The Washington Times ran a story claiming that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had issued a death threat to the US leader, alleging that he boasted Trump would “soon be dead.”

The story was based on a speech Rouhani gave earlier this week in which he said that the world would soon be rid of “Trumpism” and that “this murderer’s mandate is drawing to an end and he will go down into the dustbin of history.”

A translation used by the Washington Times and other outlets made it appear that Rouhani was predicting that Trump’s own life would soon come to an end.

Responding to the Times’ report, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzade strenuously denied that Tehran had Trump in its crosshairs.

“Cowardice in assassinating foreign leaders is a US-Israeli trademark; NOT Iranian,” the spokesman tweeted on Friday. He added that the Washington Times “should know better than to publish fake news & spread anti-Iran bigotry.”

Alireza Moezi, Iran’s deputy minister of communications for the office of the president, issued a similar rejection of the report, insisting that it was “beneath the dignity of [the] Iranian president to threaten the life of a foreign counterpart.” According to Moezi, Rouhani was clearly referring to Trump’s “political” life when he made his remarks.

‘This Is a Dumb Tweet’: Nick Sandmann Challenges Lawyer Lin Wood

Covington High School graduate Nick Sandmann challenged his former lawyer, L. Lin Wood, after he claimed that Vice President Mike Pence could face arrest, imprisonment, and execution for treason.

“I’m sorry but what the hell,” Sandmann wrote on Twitter, sharing Wood’s message:

“If Pence is arrested, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will save the election,” Wood wrote. “Pence will be in jail awaiting trial for treason. He will face execution by firing squad. He is a coward and will sing like a bird and confess ALL.”

Wood represented Sandmann in his legal case against the Washington Post and other media outlets, which smeared him for being a racist before getting all of the facts of a well-publicized confrontation with a Native American activist on the National Mall after the March for Life in 2019.

Wood rallied to Sandmann’s defense, suing CNN, the Washington Post, the New York Times, Gannett, Rolling Stone, ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News on his behalf. CNN and the Washington Post settled the suits out of court.

When Lin’s supporters criticized Sandmann for turning on Wood, he replied, “Your definition of loyalty is equivalent to being blackmailed to support something that I disagree with. True loyalty involves criticism when necessary.”

Sandmann worked for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s 2020 reelection campaign and is a Transylvania University student.

Sandmann wrote that loyalty to Wood is not “everything,” but “the truth is” everything.

Covid camps? Put disease ‘carriers’ in DETENTION CENTERS, proposed New York law suggests

A New York state lawmaker has introduced a bill that would allow the government to detain people deemed a potential public health risk, amid concerns that the Covid-19 crisis is being allegedly used to usher in authoritarianism.

Authored by a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly N. Nick Perry, Bill A416 calls for the “removal and/or detention” of individuals who are identified as a “case, contact or carrier” of a contagious disease.

Such person or group of persons shall be detained in a medical facility or other appropriate facility or premises.

The sweeping powers would be employed in the event of the state government declaring a health emergency due to an epidemic of any communicable disease, the bill proposes. The legislation states that the government must provide “clear and convincing evidence” that the health of others is in danger before ordering a person or group to be detained. People being “removed” will have the right to legal representation and are allowed to supply the telephone numbers of friends or family to receive notification of the individual’s detention.

The law apparently allows the governor or health official to unilaterally approve such detentions but a court order is required within 60 days of confinement, and judicial review is also required if the individual is still in detention after 90 days.

Citizens that are placed in detention will be released once health authorities determine that they are no longer contagious, the proposed law states.

The bill also allows the governor or relevant health authorities to require people deemed potential health risks to submit to medical examinations as well as undergo a “prescribed course of treatment, preventative medication or vaccination.”

The law does not specifically mention coronavirus. On his website, Perry says A416 “Relates to the removal of cases, contacts and carriers of communicable diseases who are potentially dangerous to the public health.”

In fact, the Democratic lawmaker introduced a nearly identical bill during the 2015-2016 legislative session, but it appears to have gone nowhere.

The current iteration of the proposed law will be reviewed by the assembly’s health committee next week.

Although the legislation is still a long way off from adoption, it caused considerable consternation on social media.

“We need to wake up to the threat that is posed by China and 2021 begins my next campaign and that is to make sure we are no longer dependent on China,” he pronounced on Friday.

From the beginning stages of the pandemic, Mr Farage said that the crisis exposed how dependent Western supply chains are on the Chinese state, particularly in sectors such as medicine and personal protective equipment (PPE).

“To see China now exploiting a crisis that they have caused to spread their influence further and deeper into Europe should send a chill down our spines,” he wrote in March.

Unlike President Donald Trump, who made the issue of confronting China a key pillar of his presidency, Mr Farge warned that China is “licking its chops” at the thought of a Biden presidency.

“With Trump all but gone from the White House, and faltering Joe Biden preparing to move in, it now looks as though China’s quest for world domination is back on track. What a calamity,” Mr Farage said.

Mr Farage has argued that the Chinese Communist Party should pay reparations to the West for unleashing and covering up the pandemic, destroying millions of lives and businesses across the world.

“This pandemic was and is China’s fault and the West should demand reparations for the turmoil it has inflicted upon the world,” he last month.

A doctor in London said he is “disgusted” after protesters gathered outside a hospital on New Year’s Eve, chanting “Covid is a hoax.” The video has gone viral, prompting an outpouring of support.

Matthew Lee, a junior doctor at London’s St. Thomas' Hospital, said he was confronted by “hundreds of maskless, drunk people in huge groups” in the early hours of Friday morning, some calling the coronavirus a “hoax” – “literally outside the building where hundreds are sick and dying.”

The gathering was part of a larger anti-lockdown protest organized by Piers Corbyn, the elder brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who led the crowd in chants, at one point even engaging in a fire-breathing show for spectators. Ahead of the demonstration, Corbyn revealed that he would run in London’s mayoral race, and was later seen in footage confronting a police line stationed near the hospital. He was issued a £200 ($273) fine for breaching the region’s coronavirus restrictions, according to the Daily Mail.

240 Israelis Test Positive for Coronavirus After Getting Vaccinated

Mass vaccination against COVID-19 began in Israel at the end of December, with Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Rivlin receiving the first doses of the coronavirus vaccine. Around one million Israelis have been inoculated with the vaccine so far.

Among those vaccinated against the coronavirus in Israel are 240 people who were diagnosed with COVID-19 shortly after being inoculated, Channel 13 News reported.

Since Pfizer’s vaccine takes time to develop antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and requires injecting two doses of the inoculation, with the second one given 21 days after the first, there is still a risk of contracting COVID-19. It is also noted that if a person was infected before vaccination, they may still be in danger of developing COVID symptoms even after injection.

Moreover, there are concerns that people with immunity can carry the virus and spread it because it is not clear so far whether mucous layers are beyond the reach of antibodies and they could bear virus particles even after a person is vaccinated.

According to government data, the majority of those who received the coronavirus jabs reported no side effects, although some people sought medical assistance due to weakness, dizziness, fever, and diarrhea, reportedly caused by the vaccination. The Israeli Health Ministry also reported cases of people suffering from allergic reactions and developing neurological symptoms after receiving the shots with the vaccine.

Earlier this week, Israeli media reported that there were four cases where people died after getting vaccinated. Three deaths were proven to be unrelated to the vaccination, while the fourth case is still being investigated.

Israel has vaccinated some one million people against COVID-19, which is over 10 percent of its 9.2 million residents, the government said on 1 January.

On 20 December, Israel officially started mass vaccinations against COVID-19 after the country approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. The priority groups to be inoculated include medical workers, students at medical schools, employees of geriatric institutions, and government officials. The day before the vaccinations kicked off, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first person in Israel to receive the coronavirus jab. He got the shot in front of TV cameras, pledging to make Israel the first country in the world to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

Apart from the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, Israel also has a vaccine purchasing deal with the US company Moderna. It was also reported that the Jerusalem-based Hadassah Medical Centre had ordered 1.5 million doses of the Russian-made Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and was waiting for approval from the Health Ministry for its use.

The Facebook campaign was disabled for supposedly violating the platform's Unacceptable Business Practices Policy. "We don't promote products, services, schemes or offers using deceptive or misleading practices, including those meant to scam people out of money or personal information," a warning on the account's dashboard read.

"Big Tech is at it again," the NRSC tweeted Friday, urging follows to go to the fund's webpage and help the Republican Party fight back. "This is unacceptable with only 4 days to Election Day."

Trump has called to reform Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. He signed an executive order curtailing the federal act on May 28, which directly challenged a law that shields tech giants like Facebook from being held liable for the content their users upload.

Passed in 1996 to help the internet to flourish during the digital age's infancy, the law was designed to prevent such companies from being treated as publishers. Section 230 protections allow social media sites to moderate their content by removing posts that violate their service-by-service standards, so long as the policing powers are acting in "good faith."

Free speech advocates claim that the law has been interpreted in the courts well beyond its original intent, handing private tech conglomerates gatekeeping authority in the public sector with little outside reign and regulation.

Despite the president's opposition to the bill, 322 representatives voted to override Trump's veto on the National Defense Authorization Act, including some of his most loyal Republican members. The House delivered the more than two-thirds of the chambers votes necessary to overhaul the Trump veto.

The Senate efforts on Friday led by Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn both blocked an opportunity to deal with Section 230 head on and represents the first congressional override in the president's White House tenure just weeks before he leaves office. Emmanuel Macron sparked fury today by claiming Brexit was the product of 'lies and false promises' in a bitter broadside at Britain's departure from the EU.

The French president lashed out at the UK's decision to quit the block on the night it finally took place, more than four years after the Brexit referendum.

He used his New Year address to his nation to castigate the UK's decision to go it alone after agreeing a trade deal which could damage the French fishing fleet - and his grip on power.

In the address delivered from the Elysee Palace, Paris, Mr Macron questioned the strength of Britain's sovereignty following its departure from the European Union.

'A few days ago, we reached an agreement to organise our future relations, defending our interests, our industries, our fishermen and our unity, he said in a video address,' he said.

'The United Kingdom remains our neighbour but also our friend and ally. This choice of leaving Europe, this Brexit, was the child of European malaise and lots of lies and false promises.'

The video address came after his father, Jean-Michel Macron, 70, spoke publicly about his son for the first time since he entered office in 2017 and denounced him as a 'self-serving' politician.

This law essentially will be used later to prevent business owners, not landowners to do away with public stock and securities - why you ask? They will find a crisis to blame it on - its how it always works according to history.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) claimed that in 2030 people won't own a thing of their own and “all products will have become services,” according to the organization’s 8 predictions for the world in 2030.

Ida Auken, a Danish Parliament Member, and a WEF’s young manager wrote for the WEF about her perception of life in 2030, “I don’t own anything. I don’t own a car. I don’t own a

house. I don’t own any appliances or any clothes.”

“Everything you considered a product, has now become a service,” Auken added.

“Once in a while [sic], I get annoyed about the fact that I have no real privacy. No [sic] where I can go and not be registered. I know that, somewhere, everything I do, think and dream of is recorded. I just hope that nobody will use it against me,” Auken said but added, “All in all, it is a good life.”

Dr. Antony Mueller, a German professor of economics, wrote for the Mises Institute, “If the WEF projection should come true, people would have to rent and borrow their necessities from the state,

LA Deputies File Suit Against New DA As Judge Defies "Sweetheart" Deal In Gang Murder Case

Los Angeles County’s new, embattled district attorney, George Gascón, is facing allegations that his special advisor, Mario Trujillo, offered a backdoor “sweetheart” deal in the case of a gang member charged with murder.

His office issued a brief reply to The Epoch Times denying that Trujillo offered a backdoor deal in the case of Rudy Dominguez.

Chris Karr reports that Dominguez is an admitted 18th Street gang member who is charged with the murder of 26-year-old Fernando Rojo Jr., attempted murder of five others, and six counts of discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

In hearing the case on Dec. 15 and Dec. 28, Judge Mark S. Arnold criticized and defied Gascón’s reforms, which would provide leniency in sentencing for Dominguez.

During the Dec. 15 hearing, Dominguez’s defense attorney Traci Blackburn also said Trujillo had offered a backdoor deal that would give the defendant a seven-year sentence. He was otherwise looking at the possibility of life without parole.

Blackburn said, according to a hearing transcript obtained by The Epoch Times, that the offer “was conveyed to me.” Arnold asked “From who?”

“I believe it was Mario Trujillo,” Jefferey Herring, the prosecutor, said.

“I’ve also been told from a separate set of supervisors there is no offer, and that’s why we’re in a conundrum today.”

Blackburn then confirmed the offer came from Trujillo. The matter would be picked back up at the Dec. 28 hearing. At the Dec. 15 hearing, Arnold began his defiance of Gascón’s controversial reform banning most enhancements, which are additional charges or penalties based on the gravity of the crime or the defendant’s criminal history.

Judge Pushes Back on Reforms

Herring said at the hearing enhancements should not be allowed in Dominguez’s case “in the interest of justice.”

“And the interest of justice is met how?” Arnold asked.

Herring explained he’s following the new DA’s position that extended prison sentences are too long, costly, ineffective, and “harm people in underserved communities.”

At that point, Arnold initiated a dialogue with the victim’s four family members who were present.

“What do you think about eliminating all of these allegations that Mr. Herring’s office is looking to eliminate?” he asked America Rojo, the sister of the deceased.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think it’s fair,” she said.

“Are you crying?” Judge Arnold asked. “Why are you crying?”

“I just feel that we need justice,” America Rojo said. “It’s just not fair that he—if he doesn’t get as much years.”

The victim’s mother, Teresa Rojo, echoed the same sentiment.

“It’s not fair that they would lower many years … because somebody who is doing harm to people, they should pay,” she said.

After hearing from the family, the court cited 1975’s People vs. Orin to define what “the interest of justice” means, concluding that, “if courts terminated prosecutions of crimes or enhancements … without adequate reason, it would frustrate the orderly and effective operation of our criminal justice procedure as envisioned by the legislature.”

Arnold denied the motion to dismiss sentencing enhancements or special circumstances.

What Are Americans To Do When the Justice Department Is Unjust, the Courts Won’t Adjudicate and the Media Covers It All Up?

The President’s team brought in Jovan Pulitzer to perform an audit of the absentee ballots in Fulton County Georgia on Wednesday and within four hours of being given the go ahead from the Georgia Senate to review these ballots, trucks appeared in Atlanta and illegally stole the ballots (which are Americans’ property) to take them somewhere to presumably be shredded.

We have individuals dragging ballots out from under the tables in Georgia on election night on video and yet none of these individuals have been interviewed, let alone prosecuted for their crimes that we are aware of.

The only people receiving consequences in Georgia for their actions related to the massive election fraud in the state are the whistleblowers who saw crimes being committed and who spoke up. They no longer will participate in state elections.

In Pennsylvania ballots were added to the counts illegally after election day, Republicans were prevented from being allowed into the counting areas to review the corruption going on and truckloads of tens of thousands of completed corrupt ballots were reported flowing into Pennsylvania from New York before the election.

Big Media hides the facts and keeps broadcasting around the world that Joe Biden holds the office of President-elect and that he ‘won’ the race.

We have no doubt an audit of ballots across the country would identify millions of fraudulent ballots all for Joe Biden.

Thousands of National Guard Troops Prepare to Support Biden's Inauguration

Soon, thousands of National Guard members will descend upon Washington, D.C. to begin preparing to support the 59th presidential inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden.

So far, Army and Air Guard commands from nearly 30 states have pledged to support what has become a huge tradition for the citizen soldiers.

"Every four years … this is the biggest event that the National Guard works," Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Craig Clapper, spokesman for the District of Columbia National Guard, told Military.com.

About 7,800 Guard personnel supported President Donald Trump's inauguration in 2016, but the restrictions under COVID-19 may mean that Biden's Jan. 20 inauguration is a smaller-scale event, Guard officials said in a Dec. 21 Army release.

But the D.C. National Guard, which is responsible for identifying requirements and requesting support from other states, is planning for all contingencies, Clapper said.

"Right now, we have commitments from multiple states for over 4,000 people, but that could easily go up to 7,000, or it could even decrease just depending on what the inauguration will look like," Clapper said. "At this very moment, we don't know exactly what it's going to look like."

Guard members will assist D.C. Park Police and other law enforcement with crowd management, traffic control, emergency response services and communication support.

"We do street blockings, entry control points for certain areas … a lot of it is just crowd control," Clapper said.

"Normally for inaugurations, we are there a handful of days before … we have actually already had some personnel come in."

What's still unclear is if Trump's supporters will stage rallies designed to disrupt the event. Several pro-Trump groups have pledged to protest in D.C. on Jan. 6 – the day the Congress is set to conduct a formal count of Electoral College votes and officially name Biden as the winner of the Nov. 3 election.

"Threats of violence, ploys to smuggle guns into the District and calls to set up an 'armed encampment' on the Mall have proliferated in online chats about the Jan. 6 day of protest. The Proud Boys, members of armed right-wing groups, conspiracy theorists and white supremacists have pledged to attend," the Washington Post reported.

This summer, more than 5,200 Guard members converged on D.C. to support police as tens of thousands of demonstrators protested the May 25 death of George Floyd, a Black man who died while in custody of Minneapolis police. Many demonstrators became violent, but Guard members mainly were on sight to man roadblocks, prevent crowds from trespassing White House grounds and protect key monuments in the city.

So far, Guard officials are not expecting any protests on inauguration day, but troops will be ready, Clapper said.

"We always have the security aspect; if something were to happen in terms of an event that would require law enforcement, we are kind of there in a support role," Clapper said. "[In] no inaugurations past have we had to go into any kind of law enforcement role. With this inauguration, we don't anticipate that either, but we still plan for increased numbers of personnel in the area as a just-in-case scenario."

While the event will no doubt be hectic, Guard members also look at inaugurations as a chance to be part of history.

"We have parts of the parade where we will stand along the perimeter usually when the president drives through to offer the salute … so normally there is a lot of pomp and circumstance," Clapper said.

11 Senate Republicans say they will oppose Electoral College results Wednesday

Eleven Senate Republicans on Saturday announced that they will vote for objections to the Electoral College results Wednesday, when Congress convenes in a joint session to formally count the vote.

GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas), Ron Johnson (Wis.), James Lankford (Okla.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Kennedy (La.), Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) and Mike Braun (Ind.) and Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis (Wyo.), Roger Marshall (Kan.), Bill Hagerty (Tenn.) and Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) said in a joint statement that they will vote against accepting the election results until there is a 10-day audit.

"Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states," they said. "Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.

"Accordingly, we intend to vote on Jan. 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not 'regularly given' and 'lawfully certified' (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed," they added.

The senators didn't say in their joint statement if they plan to object to the results from specific states, how they would divvy up those objections or if they would just vote in support of challenges to the Electoral College results if they reach the Senate.

The group's announcement means that at least a dozen GOP senators will challenge the election results Wednesday. GOP Sen. Josh Hawley (Mo.) was the first senator to announce he would be joining a band of House conservatives to force a debate and vote on the Electoral College results.

Cruz, like Hawley, is considered to be a potential 2024 White House contender. Saturday's letter came together after Cruz pitched the idea to his colleagues and the Texas senator was spotted huddling with some of the eventual signers during a rare New Year's session of the Senate.

President Trump, who has endorsed efforts to challenge the election results in Congress, has claimed that the election was "rigged" or that there was widespread voter fraud. And the 11 senators, in their joint statement, alleged that the 2020 election included "unprecedented allegations of voter fraud."

Dozens of attempts by Trump's legal team to challenge the results in key states have been dismissed by the courts and election experts have repeatedly rejected claims of widespread voter fraud. Then-Attorney General William Barr also said last month that his department had found no widespread voter fraud that could change the outcome of the election.

Mitch McConnell’s Home Vandalized With ‘WERES MY MONEY’, One Day After a Pig’s Head Was Left At Pelosi’s House

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s home in Louisville has been vandalized with “WERES MY MONEY” overnight.

The graffiti comes one day after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s was targeted with vandalism and a pig head was left at her door.

Other messages were also left for McConnell with white and red spray paint across his front porch.

The new paint job is clearly in response to McConnell blocking the $2,000 stimulus check increase that was proposed by President Donald Trump.

“I’ve spent my career fighting for the First Amendment and defending peaceful protest. I appreciate every Kentuckian who has engaged in the democratic process whether they agree with me or not,” Senator McConnell said. “This is different. Vandalism and the politics of fear have no place in our society. My wife and I have never been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We just hope our neighbors in Louisville aren’t too inconvenienced by this radical tantrum.”

The missing flu riddle: 'Influenza has been renamed COVID,' maverick epidemiologist says

As influenza levels continue cratering, some cite COVID measures — even as COVID rates have multiplied nearly sevenfold since the spring in spite of enhanced mitigation policies.

Rates of influenza have remained persistently low through late 2020 and into 2021, cratering from levels a year ago and raising the puzzling specter of sharply reduced influenza transmission rates even as positive tests for COVID-19 have shattered numerous records over the last several weeks.

Where have all the flu cases gone?

Epidemiologist Knut Wittkowski thinks he can answer the riddle.

"Influenza has been renamed COVID in large part," said the former head of biostatistics, epidemiology and research design at Rockefeller University.

"There may be quite a number of influenza cases included in the 'presumed COVID' category of people who have COVID symptoms (which Influenza symptoms can be mistaken for), but are not tested for SARS RNA," Wittkowski told Just the News on Thursday.

Those patients, he argued, "also may have some SARS RNA sitting in their nose while being infected with Influenza, in which case the influenza would be 'confirmed' to be COVID."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's weekly influenza surveillance tracker reports that the cumulative positive influenza test rate from late September into the week of Dec. 19 stands at 0.2% as measured by clinical labs. That's compared to a cumulative 8.7% from a year before.

The weekly comparisons are even starker: This week one year ago, the positive clinical rate was 22%, where now it stands at 0.1%.

Those low numbers continue trends observed earlier in the year in which flu rates have remained at near-zero levels. The trend is not limited to the U.S. Worldwide, health authorities have all reported sharply decreased influenza levels throughout what is normally peak flu season in the northern hemisphere. Rates in the southern hemisphere were also low this year.

COVID mitigation measures cited even as COVID cases surge

Numerous experts have pointed to the ongoing COVID-19 mitigation measures — including mask-wearing, physical separation, and other anti-virus tactics — as an explanation for decreased flu levels.

Timothy Sly, an epidemiology professor at Ryerson University in Toronto, told Just the News that "the reduced incidence of seasonal influenza is almost certainly due to the protection that a large proportion of the population has been using for many months." Those measures, he said, are "designed to be effective against any airborne respiratory virus."

Holden Maecker, a professor of microbiology and immunology at Stanford University, echoed that assessment. "I feel pretty confident that the COVID-19 mitigation measures have caused the reduction in flu cases this year," he said. "Masks, social distancing, and hand washing are all effective counter-measures against colds and flu."

Speculating on why COVID levels have continued to soar if those measures have been so effective at stopping the flu, Maecker said: "I think it's because (1) there is less pre-existing immunity to SARS-CoV-2 in the population, whereas most of us have had vaccines and/or previous bouts with flu; and (2) the SARS-CoV-2 virus seems to spread more easily than influenza, including more aerosol transmission and 'super-spreader' events. Flu transmission is almost entirely close-range droplets and hand-to-nose or eyes contact."

Mysterious Drones Attacked Crossing Between SDF, Turkish-Occupied Areas In Northern Syria

Late on January 1, unidentified drones attacked Umm Julud crossing near the town of Manbij in the northern Aleppo countryside.

The crossing links Turkish-occupied areas in northern Aleppo with Manbij, which is controlled by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. Traffickers move oil from northeastern Syria to Turkish-occupied areas as well as to the region of Greater Idlib through the crossing.

Opposition sources said the drones hit a fuel market operated by traffickers, right next to the crossing. Loud explosions were heard in the region.

No casualties were reported. However, a video from Umm Julud outskirts suggests that the attack inflicted material losses on the fuel market.

This was the third such attack on Turkish-occupied areas in northern Aleppo in the last 15 days. On December 20, drones struck an oil storage facility operated by traffickers near the town of Tarhin. On December 29, a number of drones attacked an oil smuggling hub in the town of al-Hamran.

According to local sources, the drones used in these attacks are primitive. No group has claimed responsibility for any of the recent attacks yet.

In the past two years, the Syrian Arab Army and the Russian Aerospace Forces launched a series of attacks on oil traffickers in the Turkish-occupied part of northern Aleppo. Nevertheless, there is not evidence suggesting they were behind the last three attacks.

Navalny and Handlers Lose the Plot… He Is a Convicted Felon on Probation

Russia’s federal prison authorities were right to jolt Alexei Navalny this week by warning him to return immediately from Germany or else face a suspended sentence being made into jail time.

The “professional” opposition activist claims to be convalescing in Germany after he was allegedly poisoned by a Soviet-era nerve agent in August. Western news media dutifully repeat the claim that Navalny is “recuperating” in Germany after having survived an assassination plot by Kremlin agents. Navalny has personally accused Russia’s President Vladimir Putin of ordering the alleged hit.

Last week, a team of medics from the Berlin hospital where Navalny had been staying published a paper in The Lancet medical journal in which they claimed he had been poisoned with Novichok nerve agent. Their findings are dubious because the medics acknowledged the involvement of German military intelligence laboratories in conducting their analysis.

But one thing the German doctors did let slip was that a 55-day follow-up check on Navalny ascertained that he had made a “near-complete recovery”.

The Russian dissident figure was flown to Berlin on August 22, two days after he was treated in a hospital in Omsk, Russia. Thus, the German medical team are indicating – no doubt inadvertently – that Navalny’s health recovered nearly two months ago, if not before that.

That means there is no medical reason why he should remain at large in Germany. His claims of “convalescing” and the Western media’s indulgence of those claims are false, if the German doctors are correct about his “recovery”.

Despite Navalny’s arrogant disdain for Russian state laws, he is nevertheless answerable to those authorities as a citizen. While in Germany he was on probation for a suspended jail sentence concerning a fraud conviction in 2014. His so-called Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) has a checkered history of shady financing, from allegations of foreign funding by the U.S. State Department to charges of embezzling millions of dollars. Ironically, the blogger and media activist produces slick programs accusing the Russian government of corruption.

In any case, under the laws of the Russian Federation, the 44-year-old Navalny was on probation during the past four months of his stay in Germany. For the last two months, he is in good health, according to his German doctors. So there are no grounds for why he should abscond from Russian territory and evade the laws for which he is answerable.

Not only is Navalny living as if he above the law, he has also shown flagrant contempt for the Russian authorities.

Last week, he published a video on his website claiming that he had pranked a named member of Russia’s security service, the FSB, into admitting that agents had poisoned him while he was visiting the Siberian city of Tomsk on August 20. He was later flown in an emergency to Omsk where he was treated after having apparently fallen ill onboard a flight to Moscow.

The FSB dismissed Navalny’s prank telephone claim as a “deep fake”. The Russian doctors who treated him in Omsk – and who probably saved his life – have repeatedly stated that their tests showed there was no poison in Navalny’s body, and specifically no traces of nerve agent. They said his illness was due to a metabolic disorder. Perhaps self-induced as a ruse to later transfer to Germany?

The transcript of Navalny’s purported prank call to the FSB agent reads like a comic set-up. Posing as a senior member of Russia’s national security council, Navalny affects to bully the supposed agent as if he is a pathetic stooge.

A telling segment is where the self-styled super sleuth fishes for compliments about his own character from the purported FSB man, betraying the narcissism of a megalomaniac.

New York Labor Leader Accused of Ties With Organized Crime

James Cahill, an American labor leader who was arrested in October on bribery charges, had extensive connections to organized crime, including the famous Gambino Family, the Westies, an Irish gang that once operated in Manhattan, and Group America, a Serbian drug trafficking gang, prosecutors said.

Federal prosecutors said that he took bribes to act in the interest of employers, betraying his constituents as a labor leader. Instead of protecting the interests of unionized workers, he would overlook developers using non-unionized labor as long as they paid him a hefty fee.

He has been put in home detention with electronic monitoring but requested an ease of the measures.

Prosecutors asked the court on Monday to deny his request. “The evidence of his guilt is overwhelming,” they argued in a letter. “In addition, the defendant has extensive ties to members of organized crime, which is more than sufficient to justify the current bail restrictions in order to protect the public and the safety of potential witnesses in this case,” they wrote.

According to the letter, audio and video recordings and wiretaps on his phone show that Cahill worked with the Gambino Family, a branch of the Sicilian American Mafia known as La Cosa Nostra, the Westies and Group America, the Serbian drug trafficking gang documented by KRIK and OCCRP in an 2020 investigation.

Cahill met several times with Louis Filippelli, a capo in the Gambino crime family and with Mileta Miljanic, the leader of Group America, whom he described in a wiretapped phone conversation as “my guy” and part of a “mass murdering crew.”

Media in New York noted that Cahill was also friends with Governor Andrew Cuomo who was previously quoted as saying that Cahill was "a good friend to me and my entire family."

According to NBC New York, Cahill's lawyer denied the new allegations and Cuomo's office called them "ugly, disturbing and a slap in the face to the hardworking men and women who are part of the union movement.”
