What people don’t understand is that this supposed new strain that spreads faster is indeed a sign that the original virus (if it exists in isolation) is becoming even weaker as it attempts to maintain its own existence. You see, it’s in the best interest of a virus that wants to propagate through a population to NOT kill its host. It actually preserves itself and its subsequent creations by maintaining the life of its host. The stronger, more “deadly” versions of the virus kill the host, and thus do not maintain as the most prevailing strains. The remaining strains are weaker, and thus have a higher probability of spreading (easier to spread).
