This is dumb. You can't see the stars because the light is too high energy or something like that. It's probably the same reason astronauts started wearing gold shielding on their visors, because the stars were invisible to the naked eye on their first trip to outer space. We are able to see the stars here on Earth because the light waves have interacted with our atmosphere and put them into the visible spectrum.
