OK, so logistics of single person saying 'It will be safe' and driving to suburban MD or VA around the zone and parking at a garage and getting to the place on time.

OR should I just say 'OK, I'll go and Pay 40 $ for 24 hour parking in the city near by the event?

and get there earlier by several hours, do some tourist stuff, and then head over to the spot . . .

OR stay in suburbs and then park at a metro station and take the train in for the event?

and part of me says 'Geeesh, it's crazy, I've driven there on a whim before. what am I pretending like some goon at the DC town hall can chase me away on day when there will be more than a million people showing up all at once . . .

The city is configured for visitors.

If I can't park near the event, I'll find somewhere close and park there, take a taxi or the Metro.

suggestions are appreciated for best suburban station that is easiest to get to Union Station.

The Parking right there at the capital seems easy but the website says 'that time one must drive in '

TY. I'm was scoping out some stations on the Fredricksberg line near a hotel but it seems that no matter where I stay I'll still need to park at the Train station. So it doesn't matter how far the hotel is from there.

one of the stations was just referbished and doesn't open the parking until tomorrow.

they said on their page that 'ridership is much lower' lately.

So Wednesday should be interesting for them. And they should anticipate a lot of passengers.
