Richard M. Bates, longtime senior vice president of U.S. government relations for The Walt Disney Company, died on Thursday.

 

No cause of death was given, but The Walt Disney Co. said that his passing was sudden.

Mysterious Booms in NC tonight.

 

On Saturday evening, residents across multiple Triad communities reported hearing a large "boom," prompting calls to law enforcement agencies in Forsyth, Yadkin and Davie counties.

 

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook about the mysterious noises, urging callers to refrain from calling 911: "We are aware of the loud noises in the Lewisville area - callers are overwhelming the 911 system."
