A ceremony marking the one-year anniversary of Iranian top General Qassem Soleimani's death takes place in the city of Kerman, his birthplace, on Sunday, January 3.
High ranking officials and members of the public will be allowed to attend the ceremony, following safety guidelines because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Soleimani was killed during a US-directed drone attack whilst visiting Baghdad on January 3, 2020. During a recent meeting with the General's family, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised to avenge the assassination, saying that the US will face 'harsh' repercussions.
