The only way to ensure our races' longevity is to become multi-planetary.

We need to get a self-sustaining colony going on

the moon in the near future at a minimum

(mars after that).

This will preserve the human race long-term.

Statistically a massive solar flare or a WW pandemic (amoung other things) are very likely during even the next 100 years.
