That should be the case, but the Federal Reserve says there is no federal law requiring a business to take cash. In addition, the state where the store is located told businesses that they don't have to accept cash due to COVID, but a sign must be posted; rules have to be followed. Article mentions possible violation of the Consumer Protection Act for failing to post a notice.
