there are levels to it…
one may argue it reinforces national security in regards to terror or adds an extra level of military strength….
others would argue it reinforces the system of control. Many Americans are armed to the teeth with top tier armor and guns and kit and there needs to be something to tilt that power if it gets to froggy and wants to 1776.
I believe regardless of intended consequences of militarized police defending an existing power structure… there are so many unforseen and un intended consequences… Like the fact that certain police will use their powers to uphold the constitution which means their militarization is a benefit to the american people and vice versa
