Columbia University vice president charged with sexually assaulting minor

A vice president at Columbia University is facing charges of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, authorities said Tuesday.

Marcelo Velez, 56, of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, was arrested Monday and slapped with charges of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault by contact, according to authorities.

Woodcliff Lake cops were tipped off Sunday to alleged acts inside Velez’s home and made the arrest following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit, the office said in a release.

Velez was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, cops said.

The relationship between the two was not known.

Velez is listed as Columbia University’s vice president for Manhattanville development, serving as the “point person on all aspects of development, design and construction of the University’s 6.8 million sq. foot Manhattanville in West Harlem campus expansion,” according to its website.

The university, where he’s worked since 1995, did not immediately respond for comment.

Velez also could not be reached. He is being held in Bergen County Jail awaiting his court appearance.

The Economist Refers to Chinese Businessman Disappearance As “Regulation” and “Boosting Competition.”

Globalist magazine The Economist has shockingly referred to the targeting and disappearance of a Chinese businessman as “regulation” and “boosting competition.”

Jack Ma – who has previously prostrate himself before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) – has been reported as missing, with a multitude of news outlets reporting on his disappearance.

Now, The Economist – which like most globalist outfits is long on China – appears to be making excuses on behalf of the modern Nazi Party – the CCP – for disappearing Ma.

Published on January 2nd, a magazine-wide editorial shockingly states:

“China is also at the frontier of regulation, with the news on December 24th that trustbusters were investigating Alibaba, co-founded by Jack Ma, China’s most celebrated tycoon, and until a few weeks ago its most valuable listed firm.”

The article adds:

“It is tempting to see the crackdown on Mr Ma as just another display of brutal Communist Party power. It may partly be that, but China’s antitrust regulators are also keen to boost competition.”

In November the Economist published a celebratory article about the “special” upcoming 100-year anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.

Like most Western news organizations, The Economist has taken sponsored trips or dinners from the Chinese Communist Party in exchange for “favorable coverage.”

The National Pulse reported last week on how Forbes, the Financial Times, Newsweek, Bloomberg, Reuters, ABC News, the Economist, the Wall Street Journal, AFP, TIME magazine, LA Times, The Hill, BBC, and The Atlantic are listed in Foreign Agent Registration Act filings, revealing a relationship spanning over a decade between establishment media outlets and the China–United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

CUSEF is a Chinese Communist Party-funded initiative which targets American media, politicians, and universities with offers to fund policy research, high-level dialogues, and exchange programs. CUSEF and its lobbying partners in the United States describes their work as:

Georgia Election Official Gabe Sterling Claims Processing was “Normal” At the State Farm Arena Election Night – Nothing Could Be Further from the Truth

Yesterday Georgia’s sinister Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger held a press conference. He had Georgia election official Gabe Sterling do all the talking. This was a big mistake.

Yesterday Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger held a press conference. This was not a good idea after having broken the law two days prior by taping and releasing a recording he had with the President of the United States. As a result the President filed two lawsuits against dirty Raffensperger:

On Monday came Raffensperger’s press conference where he didn’t talk, another mistake. Instead, Raffensperger left all the talking with Gabe Sterling. This to was a poor choice by Raffensperger.

Per a cursory review of the accusations made by Georgia Election Official Gabe Sterling during this presser we know that many of his statements are just not right. Sterling misled his audience, defended the corrupt and likely criminal conduct at the State Farm Center on election night and defended elections worker Ruby Freeman for passing hundreds of ballots through a ballot counting machines at least three times.

Sterling even lied about the Dominion voting machines not having internet capability. This was proven incorrect by Dominion’s Eric Coomer himself:

The more we look at the presser from Sterling the more remarks we find that don’t add up.

At 8:00 in the video Sterling says that Ruby Freeman and the rest of the scanners were doing “normal” processing and rescanning when “ballots get stuck” and “four or five will get through, delete the batch and rescan until they scanned properly.

1) If this was true, the scanning machines are poorly designed, because they “failed” on every single batch that these scanners were operating on, and they shouldn’t have been ordered in the first place. There are a whole lot easier ways to count ballots than this. Like stacking them in multiple piles of 50 or 100, and counting multiple stacks with a real physical trail that can be observed and trusted by everyone. Every bank in America does this with stacks of dollar bills, with straps, tracking numbers and initials of the person who does the counting. Why does this have to be so much more complicated?

2) If this happened so often, and the batches were rescanned (and not counted as Gabe implies), this group of scanners would not have been able to add the 18,000 votes to the tabulation (tens of thousands of votes almost 100% for Biden, that magically appears at 1:36AM see graphic below. The number would’ve been much less due to the scanning/counting processing limits if the batches were actually rejected and rescaned.

3) The operators do not seem “frustrated” at all with the machines. If the machines were “failing” at such an alarming rate, you would naturally see frustration at having to feed the same ballots over and over again to make them work. We see the opposite. The operators happily keep feeding the same stacks in over and over again. We also don’t see them removing “problem” ballots from the stacks; they just realign the stack and scan and count them again.

4) Without independent or public observers, no one knows what they were doing.

5) Gabe Sterling has publicly said previously that they WERE being observed, which is not true. He seems to imply that if an election supervisor (like the dirty Ralph Jones) is present, that that counts as being “observed”.

6) If the machines were “failing” so often, why aren’t there technicians available, or any logging of these failures.

7) Normally if scanning machines fail, the ballot that gets “stuck” is caught up in the machines and is released from the feed rollers, but we don’t see the operators opening the machines to clear the jams. They just keep feeding stacks in over and over again.

8) A “recount” of the scanned ballots is meaningless, since the scanned image of the ballot IS what is counted, even if it is counted multiple times. The only way to reconcile the reported count of the scanned ballots is to count the actual paper ballots through an audit of the chain of custody to see if it matches the entire audit trail from point of origin through all transit points. And since the chain of custody documentation is unlawfully missing for most of Georgia’s ballots, this cannot be done.

McConnell to GOP Colleagues: ‘I Won’t Judge Anybody for Their Decision’ in Electoral College Certification

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) reportedly told GOP senators that he “won’t judge anybody for their decision” in regards to objecting to the Electoral College vote, which Congress will count on Wednesday, after previously urging them to refrain from doing so.

According to Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), who recounted the conversation to Politico, McConnell recognized that it is a weighty decision and added that each lawmaker has to “make it yourselves.”

“‘I’ve voted twice on declarations of war.’ And he said, ‘This is right up there. But … there’s a lot of noise out there and I won’t judge anybody for their decision,'” Cramer said of McConnell.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) was the first GOP senator to announce his intention to object to Electoral College votes, formally making the announcement last week:

On Monday, Hawley revealed left-wing activists protested outside of his home, demanding he drop his Electoral College challenge, while his wife and newborn were home alone.

“Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can’t travel,” he announced, adding that they “screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door.”

On Saturday, several GOP senators, led by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), released a joint-letter, outlining their intention to object to electors from disputed states “unless and until” an “emergency 10-day audit is completed.”

In addition to Cruz, senators signing off included Ron Johnson (R-WI), James Lankford (R-OK), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Kennedy (R-LA), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mike Braun (R-IN), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL).

Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), who faces off against Raphael Warnock in Tuesday’s runoff election, joined her colleagues on Monday, stating her intention to “vote to give President [Donald] Trump and the American people the fair hearing they deserve and support the objection to the Electoral College certification process” on January 6.

One Republican senator “aligned with McConnell” added that the majority leader is “letting everybody reach their own conclusion here.”

“That’s very much his leadership style on issues like this, is to not say much,” the lawmaker said, according to Politico.

“I think he hopes we don’t have too many people vote to do this,” the lawmaker added. “Trying to convince people right now wouldn’t produce much of a result when you could just give them time to think about it.”

Jim Inhofe, Tim Scott Won’t Object to Electoral College Certification

Sens. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) announced Tuesday that they will not object as Congress convenes Wednesday when it is expected to certify the Electoral College in favor of President-elect Joe Biden.

“My job on Wednesday is clear, and there are only two things I am permitted to do under the Constitution: ensure the electors are properly certified and count the electoral votes, even when I disagree with the outcome,” Inhofe said in the statement. “To challenge a state’s certification, given how specific the Constitution is, would be a violation of my oath of office—that is not something I am willing to do and is not something Oklahomans would want me to do.”

In a separate statement, Scott said he will also vote to certify Biden as winner of the Electoral College.

“As I read the Constitution, there is no constitutionally viable means for the Congress to overturn an election wherein the states have certified and sent their Electors,” Scott said in a statement first obtained by Axios.

The South Carolina Republican added: “Some of my colleagues believe they have found a path, and while our opinions differ, I do not doubt their good intentions to take steps towards stamping out voter fraud. Importantly, I disagree with their method both in principle and in practice. For their theory to work, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats would have to elect Donald Trump president rather than Joe Biden. That it is not going to happen, not today or any other day.”

The Republican senators’ announcements comes after fellow Republican senators Mitt Romney (UT), Pat Toomey (PA) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) also stated they will oppose efforts to challenge the Electoral College’s certification.

“I will vote to affirm the 2020 presidential election. The courts and state legislatures have all honored their duty to hear legal allegations and have found nothing to warrant overturning the results. I urge my colleagues from both parties to recognize this and to join me in maintaining confidence in the Electoral College and our elections,” Murkowski said.

Conversely, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) announced on Saturday that he will lead a group of Republican senators in objecting to the election certification. Those joining the Texas Republican are: Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Kennedy (R-LA), Mike Braun (R-IN), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL).

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) was the first Republican senator to announce his opposition to certifying the election results.

On Monday, Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and David Perdue, both locked in fierce U.S. Senate runoff elections Tuesday, will also object in at least one state.

“Elections are the bedrock of our democracy and the American people deserve to be 100% confident in our election systems and its outcomes. But right now, tens of millions of Americans have real concerns about the way in which the November Presidential election was conducted—and I share their concerns,” Loeffler said in a Monday statement first obtained by Fox News.

“The American people deserve a platform in Congress, permitted under the Constitution, to have election issues presented so that they can be addressed,” the Georgia Republican continued. “That’s why, on January 6th, I will vote to give President Trump and the American people the fair hearing they deserve and support the objection to the Electoral College certification process.”

“We must restore trust, confidence and integrity in our election system,” she concluded.

In addition, at least 140 House Republicans are also expected to object to certifying the election results.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) on Tuesday morning slammed the Washington Post for “printing outright lies from the Antifa group,” a day after Antifa activists came to his suburban home in Virginia.

As reported earlier by Breitbart News, a group of activists with ShutDown DC went to Hawley’s home Monday evening while his wife and newborn child were home alone, shouting over bullhorns, and demanding Hawley drop his objection to the electoral college vote on January 6. The group live-streamed their protest at Hawley’s home.

At one point, a neighbor can be seen walking up to the group and asking, “Why are you disturbing our neighborhood and scaring our kids?” Another man is seen walking up and pulling the neighbor away.

Hawley had tweeted Monday evening: “Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter, who can’t travel. They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door. Let me be clear: My family & I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence.”

The Washington Post interviewed ShutDown DC organizers, including ones who described the protest as a “peaceful vigil” and a “pretty tame and peaceful visit to his house.”

“This was not threatening behavior,” said Patrick Young, a ShutDownDC organizer, told the Post. “This is people engaging in democracy and engaging in civil discourse. … This was a pretty tame and peaceful visit to his house.”

Young also told the Post he “proudly identifies as an anti-facist,” also known as “Antifa.”

Nancy Pelosi: Members of Congress ‘Need God’s Blessing’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) gave a speech on the House floor shortly after she was re-elected as House Speaker where she said that members of Congress “need God’s blessing.”

“In all that we do, let us be For The People – recognizing the beautiful diversity of America so that no one is left out and no one is left behind,” she said.

“To do so, we need God’s blessing,” Pelosi continued. “May God bless all of us. God bless all of you. God bless our men and women in uniform and their families — their servicemembers and their families — our veterans and may God bless America,” she said.

Pelosi is not the only Democrat to invoke God’s blessing on the House floor for political purposes.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) concluded his opening prayer for the 117th Congress with the phrase “Amen and Awomen” on Sunday.

Cleaver, a pastor at a Methodist church in Missouri, prayed to “The God known by many names and faith,” before ending his prayer with “Amen and Awomen,” appearing to genderize the term “Amen” at the conclusion of a prayer.

The word “Amen” actually has nothing to do with gender, but is rather a term derived from Hebrew or Greek that means “truly” or “is so.”

California Woman, “Señora” For Mexican Mafia, Sentenced For Soliciting Murder

LOS ANGELES – A Pomona woman who acted as a “señora” – or a high-level female associate for an imprisoned Mexican Mafia member – was sentenced Monday to 12 years in federal prison for using her power on the street to solicit a murder and for participating in a carjacking attempt that resulted in a shooting.

Cheryl Perez-Castaneda, 58, was sentenced via videoconference by United States District Judge George H. Wu. She pleaded guilty in October 2020 to one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence.

Perez-Castaneda was a high-level associate of a Mexican Mafia cell run by Michael Lerma, 63, a.k.a. “Pomona Mike” and “Big Mike.” Lerma exercised control over, and extorted drug proceeds from, Latino street gangs in and around Pomona, as well as from inmates at Calipatria State Prison in Imperial County, according to a federal grand jury indictment.

Members of Lerma’s criminal enterprise also engaged in robberies, identity theft and fraud, drug trafficking, kidnapping, and other acts of violence, the indictment alleges. Lerma profited from these criminal activities when top-level female associates known as “señoras” deposited proceeds into his prison account, court documents state.

One of those associates was Perez-Castaneda, who, from February 2012 to July 2016, engaged in the traditional and expected duties of a “señora” – collecting extortionate “taxes” from Pomona drug dealers; distributing the drug proceeds to the Mexican Mafia, including Lerma, who was incarcerated at Pelican Bay State Prison; and giving orders to others regarding the racketeering enterprise’s criminal activities.

But Perez-Castaneda also used her power as Lerma’s voice on the street to solicit the murder of a Los Angeles County Jail inmate in July 2013 in retaliation for the shooting of her son. When Perez-Castaneda was informed that the victim had been stabbed, but not killed, she sought and obtained the approval of a Mexican Mafia member to have the victim placed on a “green light” list, marking him for murder.

In July 2013, Perez-Castaneda also participated in the attempted theft of a Mercedes-Benz automobile owned by another jail inmate. When the car’s caretaker refused to hand over the vehicle, one of Perez-Castaneda’s co-defendants shot him, according to court documents. Perez-Castaneda later laughed about the shooting on a recorded telephone call.

In March 2018, a federal grand jury charged Lerma and 12 other defendants with multiple felonies, including racketeering conspiracy, violent crimes in aid of racketeering, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and firearms offenses. So far, prosecutors have secured five guilty pleas in this case. Trial for the other defendants in this case, including Lerma and Jose Valencia Gonzalez, the alleged shooter in the July 2013 carjacking incident, is scheduled for May 11.

This investigation was conducted by the FBI’s San Gabriel Valley Safe Streets Task Force, which is made up of agents and officers with the FBI, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Pomona Police Department, the El Monte Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The Pomona Police Department is the sponsoring agency of the Task Force and has been the headquarters for the task force since its inception in 2008.

Proud Boys Leader Enrique Tarrio Ordered Freed Without Bail; Banned From D.C. Until June Court Date

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was ordered released on his own recognizance by a Washington, D.C. Superior Court judge Tuesday after he was arrested Monday on a charge of burning a Black Lives Matter banner stolen from a Black D.C. church last month. Tarrio was also charged with possessing two high capacity magazines. He pled not guilty to both charges. As a condition of his release, Tarrio was banned from D.C. until his June 8 court date after the judge cited his comments on social media that he wanted to burn more BLM banners. The judge said Tarrio could be arrested on sight if found in the city.

The burning of the BLM banner took place after a day of Pro-Trump rallies in D.C. on December 12. Tarrio and the Proud Boys were returning to D.C. this week for another round of pro-Trump rallies.

However, Magistrate Judge Renee Raymond cited Tarrio’s statements that he’d burn other BLM signs…..in addition to the one he’s charged with burning, from Asbury United Methodist Church, on Dec. 12: “Frankly, there are a lot of Black Lives Matter signs in front of people’s homes. NRA in Last-Minute Push to Boost GOP in Georgia

Second Amendment advocates outspend gun-control groups 40 to 1

Second Amendment advocates are making a last-minute push to turn out gun voters in the Georgia runoff elections as part of a multimillion-dollar effort to put guns at the forefront of the 2020 campaign.

The National Rifle Association told the Washington Free Beacon that it will send 100,000 text messages to supporters in Georgia on Tuesday encouraging them to vote in the Senate elections. That's the final part of a $4.5 million effort by the gun group to frame the races as the last defense against new federal gun control. By contrast, Federal Election Commission records show the top gun-control groups have spent just under $103,000 on the two races.

Timothy Lytton, a Georgia State University professor who has studied gun politics, said the spending contrast is an example of the different turnout strategies employed by each side in the race. He said that gun-control groups have remained relatively quiet to avoid hurting Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

"This runoff is really all about turnout," Lytton told the Free Beacon. "Republicans turn out for gun rights and religion. Those are the top Republican mobilizing issues in the state. And that's just not true for the Democrats."

The outcome of the two runoff elections will determine which party controls the Senate for the next two years—and the prospects for new gun-control laws. Republicans David Purdue and Kelly Loeffler are both endorsed by the NRA and oppose new gun restrictions, while Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety and support gun control. If both Democrats win, their party will control all levels of the federal government, and President-elect Joe Biden's gun-control proposals will have a better chance of making it into law.

Lytton said that while Ossoff and Warnock have taken positions supporting strict new gun laws, they have not run on the issue. Instead, the Democrats have shied away from the national push for restrictions to sell themselves as centrists to Georgia voters.

"The fact of the matter is, if you're a statewide candidate and you're looking for issues that are likely to not only turn out Democratic voters but also build yourself as more of a centrist, you're not going to go around Georgia thumping really hard on gun control and gun-violence issues," Lytton said. "You're going to be looking at other things that appeal more broadly like clean elections, clean government, health care, and the COVID response."

Amy Hunter, a spokeswoman for the NRA, told the Free Beacon that Georgia will play a central role in protecting gun rights under a Biden administration. The group has sent more than 2.3 million text messages, as well as 2 million mailers and pamphlets aimed at turning out pro-gun voters. They have also launched an expansive ground game, visiting 400,000 homes across the state.

"Georgia is home to a significant number of law-abiding gun owners, and the stakes of this Senate runoff could not be higher—for every Georgian and American," she said.

The largest expenditure by a gun-control group came in the form of an anti-Loeffler ad run by the Brady PAC in mid-December. Everytown for Gun Safety, which is the country's largest gun-control group and enjoys the financial backing of billionaire Michael Bloomberg, spent just under $3,000 in the runoffs.

Everytown and Brady did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
