Not sure if all anon dog lovers know, but dogfood does not have any iron in it. Used to make up a chicken liver rice or mac goo for supplement. Only last year or so seen iron in Milkbone dog biscuits.

Vet was gonna have to give our lab a transfusion if iron count kept dropping - dropped below her 48000! Supposed to be 300k-600k! Dogs need 17mg iron per 30lbs per day. Had fed our lab Blue Buff for years never realizing no iron (unless they changed by now). Checked other dogfoods - no iron count either! Even Science Diet sold at vets.

After a week of my goo supplement, her count shot up to 348k! Vet wanted my easy ckn liver recipe.

Unfortunately, we lost her @12 with other complications.

Could never understand that if they are making dogfood with "real food" how and why there was no iron in it. Even called a few mfgrs. - And you can easily guess their answers… A duh, a… duh, a…
