It's not unheard of to throw shade in the direction of an ally to cloud their affiliation and provide them with plausible deniability. It's quite common, actually.

It would be foolish to actually trust any of these people, of course. They can bleat on an on about patriotism and country, but patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel an all that. They're concerned with their families and those close to them like everyone else, and like everyone else they probably couldn't give two fucks about you, me or anyone else not inside their immediate circle. I assume this of everyone because I am rarely proven wrong, POTUS perhaps being one of the only examples to the contrary.

I just want blood and explosions, personally. I have no stake in society so who lives and who dies when this is all over is irrelevant to me.
