There must be a bit more to it than that. My brother was hospitalised with COVID19 and put on a ventilator for over two weeks and given a tracheostomy. There were times when I thought he wouldn't make it. He eventually did get better but is still not fully recovered 4 weeks later.
But he's one of those that religiously has a flu vax every year and I think he had an autoimmune response to secondary challenge by flu virus.
