This was never supposed to be about Congress choosing the President
The 'objection' was supposed to enable the states' legislatures to confirm the (legal) will of the people was accurately conveyed to the electoral college
Therefore, by taking this emotionally motivated act against POTUS, Sen Blackburn (a member of Congress) is, in effect, choosing the President and trampling on the will of the people
