XRVision Denies Washington Times Report that XRVision Identified Antifa in the Capitol

The Washington Times reported yesterday that XRVision reported that they confirmed Antifa was in the Capitol yesterday, however, XRVision claims this is not true. They never spoke with a military officer and they never confirmed individuals in the Capitol were Antifa members.

Yesterday it was all over the news that XRVision had claimed that there were members of Antifa in the Capitol. This was first reported at the Washington Times.

Trump supporters say that Antifa members disguised as one of them infiltrated the protesters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

A retired military officer told The Washington Times that the firm XRVision used its software to do facial recognition of protesters and matched two Philadelphia Antifa members to two men inside the Senate.

The source provided the photo match to The Times.

One has a tattoo that indicates he is a Stalinist sympathizer. Many Antifa members promote anarchy through violence and want the end of America in favor of a Stalinist-state. “No more USA at all” is a protest chant.

XRVision also has identified another man who, while not known to have Antifa links, is someone who shows up at climate and Black Lives Matter protests in the West.

A representative of XRVision shared with us that they never spoke with a retired military officer about the events yesterday in the Capitol and to date have not tied individuals in Capitol to Antifa.

XRVision provided to us information that two members in the capital, who appear to be alluded to in the above Times report as Antifa members, are not Antifa but are rather tied to the Skinheads and the National Socialist Movement.

This begs many questions. How did these people get in the Capitol Building? Why were they there? Were they paid for being there? Were they there to tie the Trump Administration to the Skinheads? Why did they take their picture when in the Capitol?

Another individual in the pictures is an Arizona actor and singer. He has been seen at BLM events carrying a QAnon poster.

In these two clips, we see Ossoff with 945, 050 and Perdue with 774,723. The very next time the feed from the NYT's shows Ossoff with the same 945,050 but Perdue has dropped down to 742,323. A drop of 32,400 votes.

In the next clip we see later on in the evening, Perdue is at 2,130,535 and in the next frame he drops to 2,125,535. A drop of an even 5,000 votes.

Total observable vote drop is 37,400 and Ossoff is in the lead by 27,000 votes.

These odd drops were enough to give the win and control of the nation to the democrats.

CDC reveals at least 21 Americans have suffered life threatening allergic reactions to Pfizer's COVID vaccine - but officials beg people to get the shot and say problems are 'rare'

Nearly two dozen Americans have experienced life-threatening allergic reactions after receiving Pfizer-BioNTech's coronavirus vaccine, a new report finds.

Between December 14 and 23, a total of 21 people suffered anaphylaxis upon getting their first dose, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed on Wednesday.

Of those patients, 17 people had a history of allergies or allergic reactions and 71 percent of cases occurred within 15 minutes of vaccination.

With approximately only 1.9 million shots administered over that time period, that is a rate of 11.1 cases of anaphylaxis per million doses.

However, the CDC says this reaction is 'still exceedingly rare' and urge the general public to get the vaccines when they become available to them to help curb the pandemic that is claiming an average of more than 2,000 lives per day in the U.S.

The 21 people who suffered anaphylaxis were between ages 27 and 60 years old and the majority were women, with just two male patients - although the CDC says this could because more women than men received a first dose of the vaccine.

A total of 17 had a history of allergies to a wide variety of things including tropical fruit, bee and wasp stings, eggs, shellfish, cats, penicillin and steroids.

Two of the patients had previous reactions to vaccines, one to a rabies vaccine and the other to the H1N1 flu shot.

Seven had a history of anaphylactic shock.

The Deep State Will Not Dial Down Hacking

Periods of strife often benefit a small subset of interests quite well. The recent SolarWinds hack was no exception.

The events surrounding the SolarWinds supply chain breach raise questions about the efficacy of American intelligence services. But going down that rabbit hole is the last thing that the Deep State wants to do. Those intrepid souls who do poke around and ask hard questions typically end up like Congressman Otis Pike; quashed and condemned to obscurity. So maybe it’s no surprise that voices in the commentariat are performing an op-ed kabuki which positions the debate atop a neatly conscribed set of assumptions. Thus avoiding topics that elites might find threatening.

Full of Sound and Fury

If anything the SolarWinds media circus has been lively. Full of breathless descriptions delivered in ominous tones. The incident itself has been described as “historic,” “hard to understate,” and equated to a cyber “Pearl Harbor” (a term that was very popular years ago). The Perpetrators are similarly depicted as “top-tier” actors who demonstrated the sort of “sophistication and complex tradecraft” which is seen as the hallmark of a “state-sponsored” operation.

Yes sir, straight out of a Robert Ludlum novel.

Just understand that there’s a certain amount of damage control going on. No one, especially a highly paid executive, wants to admit that things fell apart under their watch. For instance, the password used to protect the server which transmitted SolarWinds’ malicious software update to thousands of big name corporate and government networks was “solarwinds123.” That, dear reader, is the kind of amateur-hour security vulnerability which bored teenagers can and will exploit.

Never mind that Microsoft detected intrusions on only about 40 systems out of the 18,000 customers that downloaded the bogus update. Since Microsoft’s initial announcement the number of impacted systems has been rescaled upwards to somewhere around 250. Still a small fraction, something like 1.4 percent of the total customer base. Furthermore, none of the compromised networks appear to be classified. Which makes sense because classified networks are usually air-gapped and heavily segmented.

Sorry Charlie, a bunch of breached public networks isn’t a game-changer. There are criminal botnets like 3ve that easily sport over a million compromised endpoints. What happened with SolarWinds is run of the mill subversion. The truth is that American spies have been jiggering supply chains and impersonating foreign entities on a global scale since the end of World War II and—hello—show no sign of slowing down. In fact if anyone knows how to hack foreign networks on an industrial scale it’s Uncle Sam.

A Deer in the Headlights

The real story here isn’t the SolarWinds hack. Rather it’s how the incursions went completely undetected by both SolarWinds and the United States government. Given the billions of tax dollars that politicians shower on spy masters their failure to achieve situational awareness in their own backyard is a bit disappointing. Adding insult to injury, it was an unaffiliated third party from the private sector that actually unearthed the hack. Had it not been for analysts at FireEye speaking up none of this might have come to light.

So much for the NSA’s goal of “information dominance.” Honestly you’d expect more from an organization that sports a functioning replica of the Enterprise Bridge.

Tech luminary Bruce Schneier offers an explanation. In a Guardian piece he observes that the Pentagon “prioritizes and spends many times more on offense than on defensive cybersecurity.” In other words secret groups like the NSA’s Office of Tailored Access Operations (TAO), the CIA’s Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI), and joint programs like the Special Collection Service (SCS), are all teeth and no hide. Such that they neglect defensive capabilities on behalf of implementing a doctrine of “persistent engagement.” An offensive strategy that seeks to find out what the bad guys are up to by breaking into their networks and monitoring them 24/7.

Former SecDefs Call for Trump to 'Speak Out' or 'Step Down'

As a mob infiltrated the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, former Defense Secretary William Cohen, a Republican who served under President Bill Clinton, said President Donald Trump's Cabinet should remove him from office under the 25th Amendment.

During an interview with CNBC, Cohen excoriated the president, saying he has been "stoking this kind of violent action for four years at every one of [his] rallies" and should "step up or step down."

"He has been calling the mainstream press the 'enemies of the people.' Well, he has become an enemy of the people by calling upon them to go wild in Washington," Cohen told Shepard Smith in a telephone interview.

"This man has abandoned hundreds of thousands of people dying on the battlefield of this disease, COVID-19. … He was missing in action, AWOL and out playing golf … without even uttering a word of compassion," Cohen said.

On Sunday, Cohen and the nine other living former defense secretaries penned an opinion piece in The Washington Post, saying the military had no role in supporting Trump's efforts to overturn the election.

Several former SecDefs made appearances this week on radio and television news to discuss the opinion piece, but on Wednesday, as chaos unfolded at the Capitol and protesters swarmed security to infiltrate the building, their words were even sharper.

"It's the most disturbing day in my life, to see the Capitol under siege," said Leon Panetta, who served as defense secretary under President Barack Obama, in an interview with CNBC. "The president needs to go to a microphone and speak not just to the American people but to those protesters and ask them to stand down. … This is unacceptable behavior in our democracy."

Jim Mattis, who served as Trump's first defense secretary, released a statement Wednesday night saying the president had fomented the mob that had carried out a "violent assault" on the Capitol. The words were his sternest rebuke of the president to date.

"His use of the Presidency to destroy trust in our election and to poison our respect for fellow citizens has been enabled by pseudo political leaders whose names will live in infamy as profiles in cowardice," Mattis said.

The 25th Amendment outlines how a president can be removed from office by the vice president and the Cabinet if he or she is determined to be unable to carry out their duties.

Both Cohen and Panetta said the president encouraged the violence, including at a rally held earlier in the day when he urged supporters to walk to Congress, where the House and Senate had met to begin confirming the Electoral College results – the final step in the election process that will hand the presidency to President-elect Joe Biden.

Military Officers in Congress Join Call to Invoke 25th Amendment, Remove Trump

An Air National Guard lieutenant colonel who serves as a Republican in Congress is calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office after his supporters stormed into the U.S. Capitol, disrupting a vote to affirm Joe Biden as the next commander in chief.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois said top U.S. leaders must ensure that "we have a sane captain of the ship."

He is the sole Republican joining more than 60 Democratic lawmakers who are now calling for Trump's removal.

"All indications are that the president has become unmoored – not just from his duty, or even his oath, but from reality itself," Kinzinger said in a video message released Thursday morning. "It is for this reason that I call for the vice president and members of the Cabinet to ensure the next few weeks are safe for the American people."

The 25th Amendment says the vice president shall immediately assume powers and duties of acting president should the president be "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office." Two groups can determine that the 25th Amendment should be invoked: the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet, or the vice president and a group established by Congress.

Kinzinger, a pilot in the Air National Guard who has been an outspoken critic of other Republican lawmakers seeking to overturn some states' electoral results, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said Thursday that Trump "should not hold office one day longer," calling Wednesday's events an insurrection against the U.S. that was ignited by the president.

"The quickest and most effective way it can be done today to remove this president from office would be for the Vice President to immediately invoke the 25th Amendment," Schumer said in a statement. "If the Vice President and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president."

Members of Trump's Cabinet met Wednesday night to discuss invoking the 25th Amendment ahead of Biden's Jan. 20 inauguration, CBS News, Axios and CNN have reported.

Several lawmakers who sit on congressional committees that oversee the Pentagon and Department of Veterans Affairs are among those calling for Trump's removal. They include Rep. Adam Smith of Washington, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and combat veteran and former presidential candidate Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts.

"Trump is directly responsible for this insurrection and violence. He needs to be removed from office immediately," Moulton, a veteran Marine Corps officer who served four tours in Iraq, wrote Wednesday on Twitter. "It is the Constitutional responsibility of Vice President Pence and the cabinet to exercise the power granted them by the 25th amendment."

Others included California Democrat Rep. Jackie Speier, who chairs the House Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee, and Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee Rep. Mark Takano, another California Democrat.

The Worse Things Get, The More The Stock Market Likes It

No matter how bad things become, stock prices just keep going up and up and up. In 2020, we experienced the worst public health crisis in 100 years, the U.S. economy was plunged into the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s, Americans filed more than 70 million claims for unemployment benefits, and civil unrest raged in major cities all across the United States. Meanwhile, we witnessed the greatest stock market rally in American history. No matter what happened, nothing could seem to dampen the wild euphoria on Wall Street.

To start 2021, many believed that we had finally reached a point when bad news would finally start driving stock prices down. Yesterday, I wrote about how some experts were warning that stock prices could fall substantially if Democrats gained control of the U.S. Senate after the runoff elections in Georgia. Well, in the short-term those experts were proven wrong. In fact, the Dow Jones Industrial Average actually rose 437 points on Wednesday.

Of course the bigger news on Wednesday was the utter chaos that we witnessed at the U.S. Capitol in Washington. Doors and windows were smashed, members of Congress had to be evacuated, and protesters freely roamed through the halls and offices. You would think that something like that would definitely send stock prices plunging, but instead the Dow ended the day up 437 points.

Even though we have just come through the worst year in recent memory, and even though our system of government is in disarray, stock prices hit an all-time record high on Wednesday.

One explanation for this is that investors consider the chaos in Washington to just be “temporary”…

“Although the takeover of the Capitol is shocking, it’s widely perceived to be temporary and contained in scope, at least in the immediate term,” says Yung-Yu Ma, chief investment strategist and managing director at BMO Wealth Management.

“This is going to be dealt with pretty swiftly and won’t have lasting repercussions in terms of disruptions to the government,” Ma added. “It won’t change the trajectory of a Biden presidency in the coming weeks.”

We shall see what happens, but a lot of people out there are not so optimistic that the governmental shaking that we have been witnessing will pass so easily.

Moving forward, investors appear to be salivating at the prospect that a Biden administration will mean that more stimulus money is on the way…

“I think there’s an expectation … that there’s going to be a lot more spending,” Jason Trennert, chairman of Strategas, said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Wednesday. “If the Democrats were to pick up two seats, there’s no question in my mind that later this year there would be a sense that more spending is needed.”

Goldman Sachs expects another big stimulus package to the tune of $600 billion in the near term if Democrats prevail and take the Senate.

Why not make it $600 trillion?

Every dollar that we borrow and spend just makes our long-term problems even worse, and so why not get the process over with?

As I discussed the other day, the trillions of dollars that have already been pumped into our system over the past 12 months by the Federal Reserve and by our politicians in Washington have fundamentally changed the trajectory of our future. The money supply is rising at an exponential rate, and we are now on a hyperinflationary path.

Holocaust-denying neo-Nazis among the Trump supporters who stormed US Capitol

White supremacists join Washington rampage, with experts saying the violence was stoked by far-right conspiracy theories like QAnon

Avowed white supremacists and Holocaust deniers were among the Trump supporters who violently occupied the US Capitol Wednesday, with experts on far-right extremism calling the storming a jarring but natural product of years of violence and hateful rhetoric stoked by disinformation and conspiracy theories.

Members of far-right groups, including the violent Proud Boys, joined the crowds that formed in Washington to cheer on US President Donald Trump as he urged them to protest Congress’ counting of Electoral College votes confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s win. Then they headed to the Capitol. Members of smaller white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups also were spotted in the crowds. Police were photographed stopping a man identified as a leading promoter of the QAnon conspiracy theory from storming the Senate floor.

Online forums popular with Trump supporters lit up with gleeful posts about the chaotic scenes broadcast from the Capitol. Thousands of messages on Parler, a right-wing alternative to Twitter, included the hashtag #civilwar or other variations of the term.

Tim “Baked Alaska” Gionet, a neo-Nazi known for promoting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, posted video that showed Trump supporters in “Make America Great Again” and “God Bless Trump” hats milling around and taking selfies with officers who calmly asked them to leave the premises. The Trump supporters talked among themselves, laughed, and told the officers and each other: “This is only the beginning.”

The crowd of Trump supporters at the Capitol also included adherents of the “Groyper Army,” a loose network of white supremacists that includes “America First” podcaster Nick Fuentes.

Fuentes is a white supremacist ideologue who has questioned the number of Jews murdered in the Holocaust and believes that Israel has a malicious influence on US policy. Fuentes, who wants to push mainstream conservatism toward white nationalism, was banned from YouTube last year for hate speech.

Another protester was seen sporting a “Camp Auschwitz” T-shirt.

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, said the mob’s actions were “clearly consistent” with the conspiratorial rhetoric of QAnon, the baseless belief that Trump has been secretly fighting deep state enemies and a cabal of Satan-worshipping cannibals operating a child sex trafficking ring.

“QAnon has been calling on this kind of madness for years,” Greenblatt said.

Representatives of Facebook and Twitter said Wednesday that they were working to remove threats and calls for violence from their platforms.

But across both platforms, Trump supporters used the hashtag #StormTheCapitol to document the chaos with photos or video and praise the mob.

More than 1 million mentions of “civil war” and “storm the capitol” had appeared in Twitter posts by Wednesday night, according to an analysis by media intelligence firm Zignal Labs.

White House announces Wolf nomination withdrawn after he says Trump should 'strongly condemn' Capitol violence

The White House on Thursday announced acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf's nomination to serve in a permanent capacity had been withdrawn, shortly after he called on President Trump to “strongly condemn” the violence that took place at the U.S. Capitol the day prior.

Wolf issued a statement Thursday morning calling the events “tragic and sickening” and said it was “unacceptable” that some supporters of Trump resorted to violence “as a means to achieve political ends.”

Less than two hours after Wolf issued the statement, the White House announced that Trump had withdrawn his nomination to be the permanent secretary of Homeland Security. The Senate was not expected to take up Wolf’s nomination before President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated later this month.

White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement that the withdrawal occurred on Wednesday and "was not related at all to Wednesday’s events or the Acting Secretary’s comments this morning.

"Acting Secretary Wolf remains the acting secretary and continues to perform the duties of his office," Deere said.

Wolf, who is currently on an official trip in the Middle East, forcefully condemned the violence in the statement and said he plans to remain in his position until Jan. 20 to ensure an “orderly transition” to Biden’s administration and to ensure DHS remains focused on domestic threats.

“These violent actions are unconscionable, and I implore the President and all elected officials to strongly condemn the violence that took place yesterday,” Wolf said. “DHS [the Department of Homeland Security] takes the safety and security of all Americans very seriously — it’s at the core of our mission to defend our homeland. Any appearance of inciting violence by an elected official goes against who we are as Americans.”

Shortly after Wolf issued his statement, the White House issued a release saying that his nomination to be DHS secretary had been withdrawn. Trump nominated Wolf, who has been serving in the position in an acting capacity for more than a year, to the position last August but he was never confirmed by the Senate.

Wolf, who is currently on an official trip in the Middle East, had said in his statement that he planned to remain in his position until Jan. 20 to ensure an “orderly transition” to President-elect Joe Biden’s administration and to ensure DHS remains focused on domestic threats.

Wolf’s statement came on the morning after pro-Trump demonstrators breached the Capitol building in support of the president’s futile efforts to overturn the election results as a joint session of Congress gathered to certify the Electoral College votes confirming Biden’s victory. The violence convulsed Washington, D.C., and the country. Over a dozen people were arrested and four were left dead in Washington.

The Assange saga: Practicing real journalism is criminally insane

Synchronicity is definitely fond of mirror wonderwalls. The Julian Assange saga seemed to have entered a new chapter as he was, in thesis, on his way to – conditional – freedom this past Monday, only one day after the first anniversary of the start of the Raging Twenties: the assassination of Maj Gen Qassem Soleimani.

The fate of the journalist the Empire seeks to terminate was just juxtaposed to the fate of the warrior/diplomat the empire already terminated.

Two days later, Julian Assange was de facto re-incarcerated exactly as the Empire was hit by an “insurrection” which, whenever instigated in that distant “Third World”, is celebrated in Exceptionalistan as “people power”.

The invaluable Craig Murray, from inside Westminster Magistrates Court No. 1 in London, meticulously presented the full contours of the insanity this Wednesday.

Read it in conjunction with the positively terrifying judgment delivered on Monday in the United States government case against Julian Assange.

The defining issue, for all those who practice real journalism all across the world, is that the judgment affirms, conclusively, that any journalist can be prosecuted under the US Espionage Act. Since a 1961 amendment, the Espionage Act carries universal jurisdiction.

The great John Pilger memorably describes “judge” Vanessa Baraitser as “that Gothic woman”. She is in fact an obscure public servant, not a jurist. Her judgment walks and talks like it was written by a mediocre rookie hack. Or, better yet, entirely lifted from the US Department of Justice indictment.

Julian Assange was – at the last minute – discharged on theoretically humanitarian grounds. So the case had, in effect, ended. Not really. Two days later, he was sent back to Belmarsh, a squalid maximum security prison rife with Covid-19. So the case is ongoing.

WikiLeaks editor Kristinn Hrafnnson correctly noted, “It is unjust and unfair and illogical when you consider her ruling of two days ago about Julian’s health in large part because he is in Belmarsh prison (…) To send him back there doesn’t make any sense.”

It does when one considers the real role of Baraitser – at a loss to juggle between the imperatives of the imperial agenda and the necessity of saving the face of British justice.

Baraitser is a mere, lowly foot soldier punching way above her weight. The real power in the Assange case is Lady Emma Arbuthnot, forced out of a visible role because of very compromising, direct ties she and her husband Lord Arbuthnot maintain with British intelligence and military, first revealed by – who else – WikiLeaks.

It was Arbuthnot who picked up obscure Baraitser – who dutifully follows her road map. In court, as Murray has detailed in a series of searing reports, Baraitser essentially covers her incompetence with glaring vindictiveness.

Baraitser discharged Julian Assange, according to her own reasoning, because she was not convinced the appalling American gulag would prevent him from committing suicide.

But the key issue is that before reaching this conclusion, she agreed and reinforced virtually every point of the US indictment.

Pence 'angry' after Trump says he 'didn't have the courage' to overturn election, Inhofe says

Pence reportedly told Inhofe 'after all the things I've done for (Trump)'

Longtime lawmaker Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., said he'd never seen Vice President Pence as "angry" as he was when President Trump pressured him to decertify and return the results of the presidential election back to the states.

Trump on Wednesday slammed Pence, saying he "didn’t have the courage" to do so.

"I’ve known Mike Pence forever," Inhofe told Tulsa World. "I’ve never seen Pence as angry as he was today."

"I had a long conversation with him," said Inhofe. "He said, 'After all the things I’ve done for (Trump).'"

Inhofe also criticized the president.

"Republicans have always been for states’ rights," Inhofe told Tulsa World. "Democrats are the ones who always tried to nationalize elections."

Pence presided over a joint session of Congress Wednesday to certify the Electoral College results. He said just before the session began that, despite the pressure from the president, he does not believe that he "unilaterally" has the ability to accept or reject electoral votes.

The president insisted that Pence had the power to decertify the results of the 2020 presidential election.

DOD to Release Al Qaeda Operative with Ties to 9/11 Terrorist from Gitmo

While the nation was preoccupied with holiday celebrations, an Al Qaeda operative incarcerated at the U.S. military jail in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as a “forever prisoner” was cleared to be released. His name is Said Salih Said Nashir and a Department of Defense (DOD) file says he has ties to 9/11 conspirator Walid Bin Attash and trained at the infamous al-Faruq camp in Afghanistan to participate in terrorist operations against U.S. forces in Karachi, Pakistan and inside the U.S. The document labels Nashir a high risk likely to pose a threat to the U.S. and of high intelligence value. He has been locked up at the compound on the U.S. Naval station in southeast Cuba for nearly two decades. A few years ago the Office of Military Commission’s parole board denied the Yemen national release, determining that “continued law of war detention of the detainee remains necessary to protect against a continuing significant threat to the security of the United States.”

The ruling was issued because his terrorist connections run deep. Nashir, who is in his 40s, served in the 55th Arab Brigade under the leadership of Al Qaeda commander Nashwan Abd al-Razzaq Abd al-Baqi, his DOD file reveals. He was deployed with other Al Qaeda personnel to attack U.S. and coalition forces and has admitted training and living at Al Qaeda facilities. An Al Qaeda facilitator named Marwan Mughil recruited Nashir to train in Afghanistan for two months then return to Yemen. “Detainee gave Mughil his passport and sometime later, Mughil sent detainee to Sanaa, YM to meet Mughil’s associate, Abu Muad,” the military file states. In June 2001 Nashir traveled to an Al Qaeda safe house in Kandahar known as the al-Nibras Guesthouse via the United Arab Emirates and Karachi with three other men from Yemen. Al Qaeda leadership at al-Nibras “issued detainee an AK-47 assault rifle and deployed him to guard an airport located 30 minutes south of Kandahar,” the U.S. military document says. After completing his terrorist training at al-Faruq, Nashir returned to the al-Nibras Guesthouse where he remained until September 2001.

Once considered too dangerous to ever be released, the Gitmo “forever prisoner” also hid in caves along with fellow jihadists in an Afghan valley for 10 days and received $1,000 from an Al Qaeda official before trying to head back to Yemen via Iran. However, Nashir returned to Karachi because he was afraid Iranian police would capture him. He was arrested in 2002 when police and intelligence agencies in Pakistan raided three Al Qaeda residences in Karachi. After a lengthy “firefight” with Pakistani security forces five Arabs—including Nashir—were captured. All were members of a special terrorist team deployed to attack targets in Karachi, including hotels frequented by American soldiers. The terrorists were turned over to U.S. forces at the Karachi Airport before being transferred to Bagram Airfield, the largest American base in Afghanistan. The reasons listed for Nashir’s transfer to Guantanamo are to provide information on the al-Faruq camp where he trained for several months, various safe houses in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran and Al Qaeda recruiter Marwan Mughil. The file also reveals that a laptop hard drive recovered from the safe house that Nashir shared with other terrorists “contained information that could have been used in targeting aircraft, to support hijacking and other terrorist operations.”
