Federal Prosecutor in DC Not Ruling Out Charging Trump Over Inciting Violence at US Capitol - Report

The US Capitol building was besieged by Trump supporters on Wednesday afternoon after the president called on citizens to continue to fight for what he called the legitimate results of the 2020 election.

A top federal prosecutor in Washington, DC has not ruled out potentially charging President Trump in connection with inciting violence at the US Capitol, CNBC News reported on Thursday.

Acting US Attorney Michael Sherwin told reporters on Thursday that the US Department of Justice was ready to initiate charges against anyone responsible for the riot at the US Capitol building, where at least four people died amid the chaos. One of the victims was identified as a female Air-Force veteran, shot inside the Congress hall by a police officer.

“I don’t want to sound like a broken record. We’re looking at all actors here,” Sherwin said in response to the question whether President Trump could face potential charges. “Anyone who had a role and where the evidence fits a crime.”

Protesters breached the Capitol as the congressional certification of Democrat Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election was underway, forcing lawmakers to halt the meeting and leave the building immediately, with some of them having to hide in a shelter.

The events have been followed by efforts to oust President Trump, including either through invoking the 25th Amendment, which would see removing Trump from power and installing Vice President Mike Pence instead, or by initiating an impeachment procedure against the US president. The idea of impeachment has been voiced by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy.

“If the vice president and the Cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress should reconvene to impeach the president”, Schummer said on Thursday.

Speaker Pelosi says that if Pence and the Cabinet doesn’t move on the 25th amendment she’s willing to move to impeach.

The idea of launching an impeachment, however, was not echoed by President-elect Joe Biden, who supports a peaceful transition of power.

In the wake of US Capitol siege, acting Pentagon chief Christopher Miller said on Thursday that the Defense Department determined to perform its duties “in accordance with our oath of office”, and will execute “the time-honored peaceful transition of power” to Biden.

Wednesday's events have prompted several Republicans to reconsider their previous intentions to support his challenge to the electoral vote certification, with US Senator Kelly Loeffler saying, “the events that have transpired today have forced me to reconsider and I cannot now in good conscious object to the certification of these electors.”

As a follow-up, several high-ranking officials announced they are either resigning or going to do so, including Mick Mulvaney, President Trump’s former chief of staff, who told CNBC that he stepped down as special US envoy to Northern Ireland.

US Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, announced her resignation on Thursday, saying “our country experienced a traumatic and entirely avoidable event as supporters of the president stormed the Capitol building following a rally he addressed”.

Others who have decided to leave the Trump administration include Stephanie Grisham, former chief of staff to First Lady Melania Trump; Matt Pottinger, the deputy national security adviser; Sarah Matthews, deputy White House press secretary; Anna Cristina "Rickie" Niceta, social secretary at the White House; Ryan Tully, the National Security Council's senior director for European and Russian Affairs; Tyler Goodspeed, acting chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers; and John Costello, deputy assistant secretary for intelligence and security at the Commerce Department.

In another blow to President Trump, tech giants suspended his social media accounts on Wednesday night, blocking the US president from a nearly 150-million audience.

DC police release photos of suspects in US Capitol siege

Police in Washington DC have released dozens of photos of President Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday, causing widespread damage and sending the nation’s capital into lockdown.

The DC Metropolitan Police Department posted the photos online late Tuesday, with images that include a man identified by media as Jake Angeli, a 32-year QAnon loyalist known in right-wing circles as the “Q Shaman.”

“We still have a significant amount of work ahead of us to identify and hold each and every one of the violent mob accountable for their actions,” DC Police Chief Robert Contee said at a briefing.

“We have collected numerous images of persons of interest that we are asking the community to helps us identify,” he said. “These images depict individuals engaged in various acts of violence or property destruction.”

Contee said 68 people have been arrested — only one of them from DC.

He said the photos were shared with the FBI and at local hotels and airports, with law enforcement patrolling both.

Police said the pictured protesters are sought for unlawful entry and some for other crimes for busting into the historic building.

The pics show rioters inside the Capitol Rotunda, where several are seen taking selfies, and others on the floor of the House and the Senate after breaching both chambers.

Another image shows a woman speaking through a bullhorn, and yet another shows a fur-clad protester holding a discarded DC police shield.

A woman is also seen outside the Capitol holding part of the name plate from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, which was ransacked in the raid.

The assault on the building turned deadly when a Capitol Police officer shot and killed one demonstrator, Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force vet who was among those who broke into the Capitol.

Police said three other people died from medical emergencies.

Lindsey Graham Vows To Help Jail Trump Supporters

GOP 2021

Republican South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham is leading the charge to investigate and arrest the demonstrators who entered the U.S. Capitol building in order to protest the stolen 2020 election.

Graham said that “sedition” might be on the table and vowed to continuously badger law enforcement to haul away the protesters, some of whom chanted “USA!” and carried American flags. The protesters, upset by the government’s resistance to an audit of the election result, were met with force by Capitol Police. Air Force veteran Ashli Babbit was shot in the neck and killed by a police officer for participating in the protest.

Graham gained political relevance by attaching himself to President Trump’s MAGA movement, frequently appearing on “Hannity” to present himself as some kind of conservative rabble-rouser. But his establishment bona fides include years spent as John McCain’s bag man. Graham is a neocon who is clearly showing his true colors.

But now Graham wants Trump supporters jailed. The media is likewise is working to identify protesters, presumably to aid in federal investigations. Leftist Black Lives Matter and Antifa agitators, meanwhile, have wreaked havoc across America and faced very limited legal consequences while gaining the support of the government and political establishment.

Georgia Legislator Says Democrats Will Treat Trump, Supporters As ‘Negroes’

Black Democrat US Rep. from Georgia abandons Biden call for unity saying Trump supporters should be ‘perp-walked’ and treated like ‘negroes’

A US Congressman from Georgia has gone on record as believing President Trump and his supporters should be as “negroes” have in the US justice system.

US Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) viciously rebuked President-Elect Joe Biden’s call for unity on a popular SiriusXM satellite radio program by declaring President Trump, his supporters, and those who originally sought to challenge illegitimate Electoral College elector slates should be “perp-walked to jail” like “negroes.”

Johnson specifically mentioned US Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), who abandoned his challenges after the violence on Capitol Hill yesterday, and Josh Hawley (R-MO).

In proposing that it would be better for the Democrat Party and the incoming Biden administration to simply say, “‘Trump did some bad things, but look forward,’” SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah rightly said executing political retribution would be “detrimental to our party.”

But Johnson, embracing the totalitarian and despotic practice of persecuting political rivals was going to have nothing to do with unity.

“You can’t let this behavior slide,” Johnson responded. “You can’t ignore it and hope that it’s not going to happen again. You see what’s shaping up for the future with guys like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz who are looking to turn the Trump Republican Party into the Trump Republican Party on steroids.”

The Georgia Democrat, in exposing his willingness to embrace political persecution of his rivals continued saying Republican lawmakers will be quick to learn they “will not be allowed to get away with what Donald Trump did.”

“We have got to make sure that those who come after Donald Trump know that they will not be allowed to get away with what Donald Trump did, that they will be held accountable,” Johnson insisted. “They will be treated, yes, like ‘negroes’ – they will be perp-walked to the jail, handcuffed not in front of them, but behind them. They will be booked, fingerprinted, have to make bond, and have to hire a lawyer just like everyone else and go through the system.”

Johnson continued his rant by advancing the false narrative of systemic racism in the US justice system contending that it “feasts on black folks.”

“[F]or once it needs to turn its attention to what [Donald Trump] has done to turn our country into something that we just don’t need to let it get to,” he spewed. “He can’t be allowed to get away with it because if we allow him to get away with it, there will be others who will try to do the same thing, and we don’t even want them to think about doing what Trump has done.”

In 2016, Johnson said Jewish settlers in Israel were “like termites.” In 2010, he ignorantly expressed a fear that the island of Guam might capsize if it were overpopulated.

It Was Never About Trump…

This morning I find it difficult to think about what’s likely to happen in the coming months, years. That’s not my intent for this post. Suffice it to say that never before in U.S. history will such an extremely far left government have full control after January 20th. That means there will be rapid and radical “transformations” pipe-lining into your way of life, be it directly or indirectly.

Never again will a non-conformist president, senator, or congressmen gain position in this new government. Seeing the establishment power on full display these months (and 4 years) has been, and is, astounding. Chilling.

Which brings me to the thought of my post…

What is the underlying reason why Trump supporters are so angry? Was this ever about Trump himself?

It was never really about Trump, the man. No. Rather it was about representing a set of ideals that resonated with so many. Some of which were anti-establishment (deep state swamp), the concept of America first, patriotism.

Trump just so happened to be the outsider that people employed as a sort of wrecking ball to the establishment. He was “just what the doctor ordered” for this, right? His strong anti-establishment demeanor, fighting attitude, being loud and obnoxious, abrasive, telling it like it is, no bull shit personality…

His election in 2016 was not only a shocking surprise to the deep state establishment, but it showed just how many people in America were (are) fed up with it (the swamp)(and 8 years of Obama).

The underlying problem that we have here is deep rooted.

The hundreds of thousands (some say possibly nearly a million) peaceful protestors in DC January 6th were there not so much because of Trump the man. Rather, it was the culmination of a number of things…

4 years of being bashed non-stop for one’s ideals by the mainstream and radical left

4 years of non-stop false attempts to oust the outsider non-conforming president mucking up the works

the total lack of transparency into the egregiously fraudulent 2020 election

the specter of a far left radical government should Trump lose (which he didn’t – but he’s out via fraud)

So this morning as I contemplate what just happened, there are several thoughts:

They are all piling on… We who posses ideals of patriotism and liberty (basically the Trump nation of 75 million) are now vilified forever, given yesterday’s events which was largely a peaceful march by the vast majority. However the Capital Building incident – which was evidently initially instigated by Antifa infiltrator provocateurs – is being labeled as insurrection (though I’ve never heard of an unarmed insurrection). A grand mainstream opportunity to forever label ALL patriots as horrible, despicable, (fill in the blank). We are all targets now. Being a patriot has become shameful in the eyes of mainstream.

The problem here is not Trump. The real problem (to them) are the underlying ideals of his supporters. And this new radical left government knows it — and will do everything they can to discourage and/or dispose of those ideals.

Life will go on. However I do know that water and oil don’t mix. We live in a nation of largely two very opposing ideals. They don’t mix. One of them is soon about to rule over the other. I wish there were a better way or better result. But here we are.

All of the things they’ve promised (I’ve written about many of them) will be coming to pass, soon.

Yes, I am discouraged. However there’s one thing that (sort of) gives me some enlightenment at the moment. Do you know what that is? It’s kind of like pushing back from the table and saying “Okay, good luck with that.” and getting up and walking away. The damage they will likely cause while implementing their far left radical agendas could be epic. “Good luck with that…”

Why Trump voters don’t trust the people who count the votes

Perhaps not since the nineteenth century have so many American voters so fervently doubted the outcome of a national election.

A Slate headline from December 13 read: “82 Percent of Trump Voters Say Biden’s Win Isn’t Legitimate.” If even half true, this poll means tens of millions of Americans believe the incoming ruling party in Washington got its political power by cheating.

The implications of this are broader than one might think. Under the current system, if many millions of Americans doubt the veracity of the official vote count, the challenge to the status quo goes beyond simply thinking that Democrats are cheaters. Rather, the Trump voters’ doubts indict much of the American political system overall, and call its legitimacy into question.

For example, if Trump supporters are unwilling to accept that the vote count in Georgia was fair—in a state where Republicans control both the legislature and the governor’s mansion—this means skepticism goes well beyond mere distrust of the Democratic Party. For Trump’s vote-count skeptics, not even the GOP or the non-partisan election officials can be trusted to count the votes properly.

Moreover, unlike the general public, Trump supporters appear to have adopted a keenly suspicious view toward these administrators and the systems they control. This is all to the best, regardless of the true extent of voter fraud in 2020. After all, government administrators—including those who count the votes—are not mere disinterested, efficiency-obsessed administrators. They have their own biases and political interests. They’re not neutral.

Trump As Outsider

How did Trump supporters become such skeptics? Whether accurately or not, Trump is viewed as an anti-establishment figure by most of his supporters. He is supposed to be the man who will “drain the swamp” and oppose the entrenched administrative state (i.e., the deep state).

In practice, this means opposition must go beyond mere partisan opposition. It was not enough to simply trust the GOP because, either instinctively or intellectually, many Trump supporters know he has never really been a part of the GOP establishment. The opposition from within the Republican Party has always been substantial, and the old party guard never stopped opposing him. For Trump’s supporters then, the two party system isn’t enough to act as a brake on abuse by the administrative state—at least when it comes to sabotaging the Trump administration. In the minds of many supporters, Trump embodies the anti-establishment party while his opponents can be found in both parties and in the non-partisan administrative state itself.
