The real question is how do you find, in the span of three-four years, O-6 and belows to raise to flag officer levels of O-7+ and place them in relevant commands?

Their enlisted advisors and staff, as well - how do you identify and promote them… When the systems for evaluating them were corroded and the individuals responsible for it were also corrupted?

If there is any significant resistance against China, it will come from O-6 and below effectively going rogue to do so. The problem is that individual officers do not even source their own pay anymore. That used to be part of the deal, an officer could even do things like collect taxes in times of martial law and budget expenses, recruit their own staff, etc. We have completely dissolved most officers into enlistees with a college fraternity requirement.

This doesn't put the good military in charge. It would simply allow one to know who in the military was likely to do what.

I am just saying that the military proper is not where we are going to see the covering fire come from. It will be from something else, entirely.
