Since some asshat federal judge said we have to reopen DACA to new applicants, some probably want to sneak in and pretend they were here for years and apply for that. SCOTUS is doing damage by leaving that festering sore open.
Yes please I read that weeks ago and am getting tired of seeing it over and over again.
We don't know what awaited them on the other side. Nor, maybe, should we. Whatever we know, so will others considering whether to cross. If these disappear without a trace, they might reconsider.
They're counting on us having to catch and release. But I'd guess Trump has the logistics in place to detain and adjudicate, and that's NOT what they came all this way for.
The EO said to do everything possible to put infrastructure in place so that catch and release is not necessary.
The stated reason for catch and release is they claim asylum, we can't adjudicate promptly and don't have anywhere to put them, and under international law we can't tell them to fuck off and go back without adjudicating the case. So they're released.
If Trump has nowhere to hold them, he might not be able to do different. The EO isn't magic, it just brings resources to bear.
Solid factual digging result, anon.
