You are correct in that that is why is happening.

However, this is far worse for Twitter.

What company employees are doing here without realizing it is that they are diminishing the value of the Twitter brand to those that own the company (shareholders).

What they are doing is tantamount to destroying the company from within.

All it takes is ONE shareholder to get pissed off enough to make this a real problem for current Twatter managment.

Shares wont move dramatically initially, but when the bulk of the Twatter traffic produces (either from original tweets or re-tweets) is removed, then so does all their revenue generating ability.

 

tl;dr: Jack is fucked.
