I think there were MANY with Trump that he knew were compromised but I also think he wanted to give them a chance to do the right thing. Masterful planning always allowed for contingencies and we already know that only 3 non-military had the big picture.
I don't see how that's an issue anymore. I think it's the other way around; there are people who just portrayed to the world they're bad guys who may still be playing an important role and when they're not tied to the post people will need to know why.
