Regarding the MEGA decryption key prompt in previous notable
>>12419515 (pb)
Secanon here.
The anon in this notable is mistaken about the meaning of this decryption key prompt.
This prompt just means you're lacking the MEGA decryption key for the MEGA account, it is not related to the potential password/encryption key of a file stored in a MEGA folder
Each MEGA URL has two or three parts:
-
the identifier of the MEGA archive
-
the decryption key to the archive (optional)
-
the identifier of the folder or file
Example for a folder, with decryption key:
old syntax:
https://mega.nz/#F!AAA!BBB!CCC
https://mega.nz/#F!AAA!CCC (no decryption key provided)
new syntax:
https://mega.nz/folder/AAA#BBB/folder/CCC
https://mega.nz/folder/AAA/folder/CCC (no decryption key provided)
MEGA archive identifier=AAA
encryption key=BBB (optional)
folder path within the MEGA archive=CCC
If you provide only the identifier and locator parts, MEGA asks you for the decryption key before you can access it.
If you provide the decryption key in the URL, MEGA sends you to the file or folder directly.
This potential Kappy related URL is lacking the MEGA decryption key.
https://mega.nz/#F!rrp02Sgb!dl1Odq-8TyYQaeA2UVRX4w==a59f17a82254fe7dbc608d8b3857ff7%7C49c28c2d7abd4ba4b051024bf29bd826%7C0%7C0%7C637456733258753386%7CUknown%7CTWFpb
-there is only one exclamation mark:
MEGA archive identifier= rrp02Sgb
locator of the resource within the MEGA archive= dl1Odq-8TyYQaeA2UVRX4w==a59f17a82254fe7dbc608d8b3857ff7%7C49c28c2d7abd4ba4b051024bf29bd826%7C0%7C0%7C637456733258753386%7CUknown%7CTWFpb
The prompt to enter a decryption key is NOT related to a decryption key for the file.
MEGA doesn't allow you to decrypt files which have encryption and are stored on MEGA
MEGA uses a different layer of encryption, and the prompt on this screenshot is for the MEGA layer of encryption, not to decrypt a potential Kappy file.
Do not waste time using the Kappy password there, that will not work.
You need the MEGA decryption key to access this resource, which is something else.
