Mozilla says ‘deplatforming’ Trump isn't enough, wants to shield internet from ‘bad actors’ as users uninstall Firefox in disgust

Mozilla, developer of the Firefox internet browser, has argued that more must be done to keep Donald Trump and other “bad actors” out of cyberspace, prompting many to vow to never use the group’s services again.

In a blog post titled ‘We need more than deplatforming’, the open-source software community said that Twitter’s decision to permanently ban Trump from its platform didn’t go far enough in weeding out “hate” on the internet. While blaming Trump for the “siege and take-over” of the US Capitol on January 6, the non-profit tech group argued that “white supremacy is about more than any one personality.”

“We need solutions that don’t start after untold damage has been done.Changing these dangerous dynamics requires more than just the temporary silencing or permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms,” Mozilla wrote.

The group proposed a number of measures to help protect the internet from verboten views. Internet ads should list who paid for them, how much they are paying, and who is being targeted, Mozilla said. There should also be “meaningful transparency” of platform algorithms so that people can examine what kind of content is being promoted.

The group also demanded that “tools to amplify factual voices over disinformation” are added to the default settings of internet platforms, and said that independent research must be carried out to determine how social media is affecting society and what can be done to “improve things.”

The blog post concluded by stating that the answer to Trump and other allegedly bad voices was not to “do away with the internet,” but rather to “build a better one” that can “withstand” such “challenges.”

Mozilla tweeted the statement, claiming that the unrest at the Capitol was the “culmination of a four-year disinformation campaign orchestrated by the President.”

McConnell Lays Out How Second Impeachment Would Play Out In Senate

With Democrats set to launch a second impeachment against President Trump if he doesn't resign 'immediately,' Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has circulated a memo to GOP Senators outlining the mechanics of how a potential Senate trial would play out.

For starters, it would almost certainly occur after Trump leaves office on January 20, when Democrats take control of the Senate, according to the Washington Post. McConnell's memo notes that the Senate will not reconvene until January 19 for any substantive business - leaving the day before Joe Biden's inauguration as the earliest possible date for proceedings to begin.

Although the Senate will hold two pro forma sessions next week, on Jan. 12 and Jan. 15, it is barred from conducting any kind of business during those days — including “beginning to act on received articles of impeachment from the House” — without agreement from all 100 senators. With a cadre of Trump-allied senators in the Republican conference, that unanimous consent is highly unlikely. -Washington Post

"Again, it would require the consent of all 100 Senators to conduct any business of any kind during the scheduled pro forma sessions prior to January 19, and therefore the consent of all 100 Senators to begin acting on any articles of impeachment during those sessions," reads McConnell's memo.

This means an impeachment trial would need to be taken up by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) who will become the majority leader after Republicans failed to hold the Senate following last week's Georgia runoff election (during which 'pro-Trump' attorney Lin Wood encouraged Republicans not to vote because the GOP candidates didn't support Trump's claims of widespread election fraud in the state).

McConnell's memo continues - outlining a scenario if the House should impeach Trump in the coming days (via WaPo):

●On Jan. 19, the Senate would receive a message from the House that it has appointed impeachment managers, and that the Senate would be ready to receive it.

●On Jan. 19 or 20, the House impeachment managers would exhibit the articles.

●On Jan. 20 or 21, the Senate would proceed to consideration of the impeachment articles at 1 p.m., and officially begin the trial. McConnell’s memo noted that the “Senate trial would therefore begin after President Trump’s term has expired — either one hour after its expiration on January 20, or twenty-five hours after its expiration on January 21.”

If Trump is successfully impeached, Congress could disqualify him from running for president again.

Meanwhile, there's a question of who would preside over the trial of a former president. In the case of a sitting president, that would fall to Chief Justice John G. Roberts, however McConnell's memo says it's "unclear" who would do so in the case of a former president.

Trump is accused of inciting an 'insurrection' for inviting his supporters to Washington D.C. for a protest during the counting of the Electoral College votes - during which a group of protesters, including the founder of a BLM group, were allowed to calmly file into the Capitol building where they wreaked havoc. Five people died in the incident, including a Trump supporter who was shot dead by capitol police.

How Bitcoin Gets To $100,000 Next: Morgan Stanley Boosts Stake In Microstrategy, Opening The Floodgates

Back on August 11, when bitcoin was still trading just above $10,000, publicly traded business intelligence firm Microstrategy (MSTR) made a transformational announcement: the company said that it has purchased 21,454 bitcoins at an aggregate purchase price of $250 million, a purchase made "pursuant to the two-pronged capital allocation strategy" which - in addition to repurchasing $250 million of its stock in the open market - also called for investing up to $250 million in one or more alternative investments or assets. In doing so, MSTR became the first publicly-traded company to convert a substantial portion of its cash holdings to bitcoin.

“Our investment in Bitcoin is part of our new capital allocation strategy, which seeks to maximize long-term value for our shareholders,” said MSTR CEO Michael Saylor.

“This investment reflects our belief that Bitcoin, as the world’s most widely-adopted cryptocurrency, is a dependable store of value and an attractive investment asset with more long-term appreciation potential than holding cash. Since its inception over a decade ago, Bitcoin has emerged as a significant addition to the global financial system, with characteristics that are useful to both individuals and institutions. MicroStrategy has recognized Bitcoin as a legitimate investment asset that can be superior to cash and accordingly has made Bitcoin the principal holding in its treasury reserve strategy.”

Saylor continued, “MicroStrategy spent months deliberating to determine our capital allocation strategy. Our decision to invest in Bitcoin at this time was driven in part by a confluence of macro factors affecting the economic and business landscape that we believe is creating long-term risks for our corporate treasury program ― risks that should be addressed proactively. Those macro factors include, among other things, the economic and public health crisis precipitated by COVID-19, unprecedented government financial stimulus measures including quantitative easing adopted around the world, and global political and economic uncertainty. We believe that, together, these and other factors may well have a significant depreciating effect on the long-term real value of fiat currencies and many other conventional asset types, including many of the assets traditionally held as part of corporate treasury operations.”

With this announcement, Saylor unleashed two things: a frenzy of public companies - including financial advisors such as the venerable, 169-year-old Mass Mutual - converting some (or more than just some) of their cash equivalents into bitcoin, and even eschewing stock buybacks instead opting to purchase bitcoin with their excess cash; more importantly Saylor has successfully unlocked tremendous value of MSTR shareholders, whose stock price has exploded alongside the record surge in bitcoin, which nearly quadrupled since August…

IRS Sent "Millions Of Checks" To The Wrong Bank Accounts, Tax Preparers Claim

it's incredible to think that while giving away trillions of dollars, the U.S. government may have misplaced some of it without anybody noticing. That is what several tax preparers are claiming; notable that the IRS has sent "millions of checks" to the wrong bank accounts.

It's a mistake the Feds are now working on fixing, according to the NY Post.

The money was returned to the Treasury after the agency “inadvertently sent payments to over 13 million bank accounts that are no longer open or valid,” said tax preparer Jackson Hewitt.

It's evidence of a "large scale glitch" on the part of the U.S. government, the report says.

Meanwhile, the IRS says it is trying to get the misplaced funds to the proper bank accounts. The agency said: “The IRS and tax industry partners are taking immediate steps to redirect stimulus payments to the correct account for those affected. The IRS anticipates many additional taxpayers will receive payments following this effort.”

TurboTax estimates the redirected funds will start hitting bank accounts on Friday and would continue for a few business days. TurboTax commented: “We know how important these funds are for so many Americans and we regret that an IRS error caused a delay.”

The IRS has deposited more than 100 million checks into Americans' bank accounts for the second round of stimulus so far. The troubles have arisen for citizens who opened temporary bank accounts with their 2019 tax returns. These accounts are set up when tax prep services allow customers to deduct filing fees from their refunds. This is also how they were the first to catch the error.

Because if their customers can't get their stimmies, they can't use the funds to turn back around and pay these services to do their 2020 returns. Capitalism, at work, yet again…

Gab CEO Blames CIA and Mockingbird Media for Latest PSYOP Campaign of Slew of New Accounts “Popping Out of Nowhere and Making Threats of Violence”

Gab CEO Andrew Torba released a statement on Friday on the latest suspicious activity on the social media platform. Torba says the company has noticed a slew of activity “popping out of nowhere” and promoting violence. He suspects this is a “CIA Mockingbird Media Complex” operation.

They want to shut down all unapproved and opposing voices.

This is not America.

From Gab—

Over the past several weeks I have been openly warning the Gab community to be on the lookout for fedposters and threats or encouragement of violence on Gab. This PSYOP campaign started back in early December with newly created accounts popping up out of nowhere and making threats of violence. We have zero tolerance for this behavior and it is absolutely not free speech.

This has always been our policy. We have thousands of volunteers, customers, and longtime community members who helped us stomp out this PSYOP campaign over the past several weeks and expose it. After this week, it’s clear why this PSYOP was started: to take down alt-tech platforms and frame them for the January 6th protests that ended with the police killing an unarmed woman.

Almost instantly after police allowed protestors into the Capitol the New York Times started a baseless narrative that this protest was organized on alt-tech sites, and in particular on Gab, without offering any proof, screenshots, usernames, or evidence to back these baseless claims.

I’ve recorded a video highlighting how this all played out. I hope you’ll take some time to watch it to learn how the CIA Mockingbird Media complex operates. The way we fight back is with truth and by speaking truth to their power, which is quickly fading.

Tech oligarchs at Apple & Google are ‘major obstacles’ for Trump-friendly platform to arise – liberal studies scholar to RT

It will be hard for Donald Trump to create his own social media platform if it gets banished from services by Apple and Google who monopolized the market, author and liberal studies professor Michael Rectenwald told RT.

“The App Store and Google Play are definitely major obstacles for any other platforms to arise that would have Trump as a major feature,” said Rectenwald, who was a liberal studies professor at the New York University.

Technological oligarchs have ways of boxing people out of the public square entirely. They also share profiles of all users and make sure certain users don’t have any access across the whole panoply of platforms.

“It’s not the end of the day for Trump, unless he has no platform left. And that is exactly what they’re trying to do… This is politically motivated censorship,” Rectenwald said.

The scholar noted that social media giants, like Facebook and Twitter, were given “a head start” by the government “that has allowed them to completely monopolize the marketplace.”

“In part, they were given special privileges by the government. The state exempted them from being treated as publishers, and yet they continue to act like publishers and editors,” he said.

At the same time, some of Trump’s backers are now distancing themselves from the outgoing president, because his name has been “wrecked” by the dramatic storming of the Capitol.

“Right now, the name ‘Donald Trump’ is really something you don't want to be associated with whatsoever,” Rectenwald said.

On Wednesday, a mob of Trump supporters overpowered the police and broke into the Capitol building in Washington, DC, briefly disrupting the debate on the certification of the 2020 presidential results. Four people died in the ensuing chaos, including a woman who was shot by Capitol police, and an officer later died from injuries sustained during the clashes.

Although Trump urged his supporters to be “peaceful” and “go home,” he was accused of inciting violence and permanently banned from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which is owned by Facebook.

In a series of since-deleted tweets from the official @POTUS account, Trump said he was studying “the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future,” and promised that he would not be “silenced.”

On Saturday, Google suspended social network Parler from its Play Store, citing a failure to remove “egregious content.” Founded in 2018, Parler has become popular with conservative users, including Trump supporters.

BuzzFeed News cited an email from Apple threatening to remove Parler from the App Store unless it moderates “objectionable content” on its platform. “The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities,” Apple was quoted as saying.

Parler CEO John Matze confirmed to Reuters that Apple threatened to remove the social media platform from the App Store unless its content moderation policy changes.

“We won’t cave to politically motivated companies and those authoritarians who hate free speech!” Matze wrote on Parler.

Alex Jones claims he funded rally that led to Capitol chaos

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones claims he put up nearly $500,000 to mount President Trump’s disastrous speech Wednesday in Washington, DC — and was asked by the White House to lead the subsequent march that devolved into a riotous siege of Capitol Hill.

“No one would book the Ellipse, no one would book the other areas. No one would pay for it. We went and paid for it,” Jones said in a video posted to his InfoWars website Thursday and reported by The Independent.

“Thank God a donor came in and paid like 80 percent of it,” he went on. “Because it cost close to half a million dollars, with all the equipment, all the stages and the rest of it. Port-a-Potties, you name it.”

Jones did not name the anonymous benefactor — but he did shed light on an initial plan to have the Secret Service escort Jones through the gathered Trump supporters so he could head a procession to the Capitol.

“The White House told me three days before, we’re going to have you lead the march,” Jones said.

“And Trump will tell people, go and I’m going to meet you at the Capitol. But there was a million people outside,” he explained. “So by the time I got out there … there were already hundreds of thousands of people ahead of me marching.”

The video clip was posted to social media by Kelly Morales, Jones’s estranged wife.

Jones, who has appeared at multiple “Stop the Steal” rallies in the weeks since Election Day, was seen in the crowd outside the Capitol on Wednesday, but seems not to have entered the building, The Independent reported.

Jones has been in legal hot water for pushing bogus coronavirus cures on his website — and for using it to push the theory that the 26 deaths in the Sandy Hook school massacre were faked as part of an anti-Second Amendment plot.

Senior NIH Analyst Threatens Sen. Hawley, ‘Deserves To Be Skinned Alive’ For Challenging Election Results

A former Senior Policy Analyst at the U.S. government’s National Institutes of Health repeatedly tweeted that Senator Josh Hawley deserved to be “skinned alive and rolled in salt” for challenging the integrity of the 202 election.

The violent threats come in response to Hawley leading efforts to object to the certification of the Electoral College and mainstream media smearing him as inciting the small amount of violence that occurred at the Capitol.

On January 7th, one day after the pro-Trump “Stop the Steal” march, Gitlin tweeted “once again” that “Hawley deserves to be skinned alive and rolled in salt.”

Once again for the morning crowd: Hawley deserves to be skinned alive and rolled in salt. https://t.co/zrQG8oNCaA

— Jonathan Gitlin (@drgitlin) January 7, 2021

The tweet – in direct response to a tweet chastising Hawley for challenging election fraud – followed a January 6th tweet professing a similar, violent sentiment:

Nah, I stand by that earlier deleted tweet. Hawley does deserve to be skinned alive and dropped in a bucket of salt.

— Jonathan Gitlin (@drgitlin) January 7, 2021

Gitlin, a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Kentucky and current Automotive Editor for Ars Technica, worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for over six years.

From 2009 to 2015, he served as a Senior Policy Analyst at NIH – the parent organization for high profile doctors like Anthony Fauci.

NIH, which employs 6,000 research scientists and has a multi-billion dollar budget, is taxpayer-funded as it operates under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Fauci, a mainstream media favorite who helped shape President Trump’s COVID-19 response, has led the NIH’s Institue of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIIAD) since 1984.

Therefore, Fauci was at the helm of one NIH’s leading bodies at the time of Gitlin’s hiring and, perhaps, a recipient of his advice, given Gitin’s senior role at the institute.

Leftists compare Trump's Twitter ban to Saddam Hussein's capture, call it 'most important moment in the history of social media'

Hollywood celebrities and Democrats celebrate Trump's ban with outlandish statements

Twitter permanently banned President Donald Trump from its social media platform on Friday. Giddy leftists and Democrats celebrated the censorship of the president of the United States on social media with outlandish comparisons and eccentric statements.

Leftist Hollywood actors and celebrities, who have made it their second job to endlessly attack Trump during his tenure, reveled in the Twitter banning.

"Borat" actor Sacha Baron Cohen bloviated, "This is the most important moment in the history of social media. The world's largest platforms have banned the world's biggest purveyor of lies, conspiracies and hate. To every Facebook and Twitter employee, user and advocate who fought for this–the entire world thanks you!"

Actor John Cusack bellowed, "This move by Twitter and Facebook are the biggest blows To his fascism."

"Westworld" actor Jeffrey Wright posted, "Boom," and included a screenshot of Trump's now-suspended account.

"Veep" actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, "What the f*** took you so long @jack?"

"Star Trek" actor George Takei stated, "I'm feeling Jacked today."

"Avengers" actor Mark Ruffalo tweeted, "Thank you @Twitter & the board."

Bette Midler was elated, "THANK YOU #TWITTER! CHURCH BELLS! RING THROUGHOUT THE LAND, SO EVERYONE KNOWS! IT'S OVER! TRUMP SUSPENDED FROM INCITING TO VIOLENCE ON TWITTER!"

Chrissy Teigen could only muster a laugh.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan was grateful, "Thank you @Twitter, @jack and @TwitterSafety for putting the safety of the people over profit! Now to find some Republicans with that courage."

"Frozen" voice actor Josh Gad wrote, "All we got to do now is get the Nuclear codes out of his hands and we should be good!"

Democratic politicians also rejoiced over the news of Trump losing his ability to communicate to Americans on Twitter.

Rep. Max Rose (D-N.Y.) rollicked by comparing the Twitter banning of Trump to the capture of dictator Saddam Hussein, who is reported to be responsible for the killing of an estimated 250,000 people and figures as high as 500,000.

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) tweeted, "Great. Now let's permanently suspend him from the White House."

Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) ranted, "While long overdue, I commend twitter for moving to ban Donald Trump from the platform permanently. Tech companies must take responsibility for hate speech and misinformation flourishing on their watch. This is an important step toward accountability."

Far-left Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) made a reference to "The Lord of the Rings" by saying, "Gollum has lost his precious."

Rush Limbaugh, Dan Bongino, Mark Levin take action against Twitter after platform permanently bans Trump

'F* these aholes'

Conservative radio hosts Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin, along with commentator Dan Bongino, departed Twitter this week after the social media network permanently banned President Donald Trump from the platform.

Conservatives noticed Friday that Limbaugh's account was no longer active, causing many to assume that Twitter had banned Limbaugh.

However, Twitter told a CNN reporter that it did not suspend Limbaugh's account. Instead, Limbaugh deactivated the account.

Indeed, Twitter notes when it suspends an account, writing on a suspended account, "Account suspended" and "Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules." As of Saturday morning, Limbaugh's account read, "This account doesn't exist."

Meanwhile, Bongino, who has nearly 3 million followers on Twitter, announced his departure from the platform after Twitter temporarily suspended his account on Thursday.

"I'm leaving the platform permanently for Parler. I'll post my final tweet and message for Twitter tomorrow when the 12-hour lockdown ends," told the Washington Examiner. "F* these aholes."

"Twitter needs me, I don't need them. I provide them with content. Hopefully, this leads to more high-profile accounts leaving Twitter," Bongino said.

Levin also said that he was leaving Twitter for good as a "protest" against "Twitter's fascism."

"I have suspended my own Twitter account in protest against Twitter's fascism. I ask all my followers to join me now on Parler and Rumble," Levin announced Friday.

What's the background?

After the U.S. Capitol riots on Wednesday, social media platforms and online services began taking action against Trump. After intimately suspending Trump's account, Twitter decided late Friday to permanently ban Trump from the platform, citing "risk of further incitement of violence."

The action against Trump appeared to be part of a broader campaign to cleanse Twitter of accounts that have been promoting conspiracy theories and false claims about the election, which are believed to be at least partly responsible for the deadly riots at the Capitol.

On Friday, conservative personalities began noticing their follower numbers dip, bringing attention to what some are called a "purge" of right-leaning accounts.

However, Twitter denied they were engaging in a censorship campaign.

"As part of our work to protect the integrity of the conversation on Twitter, we regularly challenge accounts to confirm account details such as email and phone number. Until the accounts confirm additional account information, they are in a locked state and do not count towards follower counts," the platform told the Washington Examiner.

Mixed signals: Tech firm soars over 1,100% as confused investors pile into wrong stock after Musk’s advice

While Tesla’s CEO has made millionaires of some of his loyal fans, this time his Twitter recommendation to use the platform Signal apparently sent millions to an unrelated firm, whose stock surged by 1,100% in two days.

Earlier this week, the now-richest person on the planet, Elon Musk, said that people should switch to a smaller encrypted messaging app called Signal, after WhatsApp told its users to share their personal data with Facebook. The company the billionaire was referring to operates as a nonprofit organization, but there’s a catch.

There is a firm trading over the counter with a similar name – Signal Advance. The company is focused on the development of applications for emerging technologies and was trading below a dollar per share for around five years.

Its stock started trading at just around 60 cents on Thursday, but Musk’s tweet obviously boosted investors’ interest in it. By the end of the day, it skyrocketed around 530 percent, and added over 90 percent on Friday. So in just two days, its stock went from 60 cents to $7.19, bringing its market cap from $55 million to nearly $660 million.

The messaging platform itself pointed out the apparent mistake. “It’s understandable that people want to invest in Signal’s record growth, but this isn’t us,” the developers wrote on Twitter, attaching a graph showing the stock growth of Signal Advance.

Is this what stock analysts mean when they say that the market is giving mixed Signals? It's understandable that people want to invest in Signal's record growth, but this isn't us. We're an independent 501c3 and our only investment is in your privacy. pic.twitter.com/9EgMUZiEZf

— Signal (@signalapp) January 8, 2021

Nevertheless, it seems that some followed Musk’s advice properly, as Signal reached the top spot in app stores in multiple countries.

Wall Street is no stranger to these types of mistakes. When the now-popular video service Zoom filed for an IPO around two years ago, some traders confused its ticker with a small Chinese firm called Zoom Technologies. The latter saw its shares surge 50,000 percent before traders realized their mistake. The same happened when Twitter went public in 2013. Investors somehow mixed it up with retailer Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, sending its shares up more than 1,000 percent.

The Government’s New ‘War on Terror’ is Coming — This Time It’s Aimed at America

After the storming of the capitol on Wednesday, mainstream media and establishment voices began throwing around a term that should make us all pay attention — “domestic terrorism.” As the group of MAGA rioters stormed the capitol to take selfies with cops, steal podiums, and hang from banisters, president-elect Joe Biden quickly took to his platform to characterize them as domestic terrorists.

“Don’t dare call them protesters,” Biden said in remarks from Wilmington, Delaware. “They were a riotous mob. Insurrectionists. Domestic terrorists. It’s that basic. It’s that simple.”

Unfortunately, during the turmoil, a police officer was killed and a protester shot to death, as well as three other individuals, who were apparently part of the MAGA protest and died from “medical emergencies.” While it was certainly terrible, this riot does not come close to the description Biden gave it, calling it “one of the darkest days in the history of our nation.”

Really Joe? Was it?

Was this really one of the darkest days in the history of our nation? Was it darker than thousands of people dying on 9/11? Was it darker than sending thousands of troops to their deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan for no reason? Was it darker than when Stephen Paddock murdered 60 people in Las Vegas and wounded hundreds of others or when Nicholas Cruz murdered all those children? Was it darker than the day on May 13, 1985, when the Philadelphia Police Department bombed the homes of a black liberation group called MOVE, killing 11 people, five of whom were children?

Was it darker than that fateful day on June 1, 1921, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when police helped terrorists murder 300 of the most successful black people in America? Was it darker than when a blood-thirsty army of U.S. Calvary members slaughtered over 500 peaceful Native Americans living in a village at Sand Creek?

Was it darker than the time at least 150 African Americans were murdered in Colfax, Louisiana after multiple white supremacist groups created a militia and attacked the Courthouse building? Was it darker than when 300 Native Americans were shot and killed in late 1890—the majority of whom were women and children—after the United States Military’s 7th Calvary Regiment surrounded a camp of the Lakota tribe along South Dakota’s Wounded Knee Creek?

Or, was it darker than the thousand lives taken by cops every year in this country?

No Joe, no it was not.

This new war on terror — just like the old war on terror — will have bipartisan support and will likely fly through the House and Senate, quickly becoming law.

Pelosi: Trump ‘Deranged, Unhinged, Dangerous’ and Should Be Prosecuted

During a portion of an interview set to air on Sunday’s broadcast of CBS’ “60 Minutes” that was released Friday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that President Donald Trump is a “deranged, unhinged, dangerous” president of the United States.

Pelosi said, “Well, sadly, the person who’s running the executive branch is a deranged, unhinged, dangerous president of the United States, and only a number of days until we can be protected from him. But he has done something so serious that there should be prosecution against him.”

Pelosi added that invoking the 25th Amendment is still on the table and “Nothing is off the table.”

Scalise: Trump Didn’t Unequivocally Denounce Capitol Riot on Wednesday, His Words ‘Caused a Lot of Real Division’

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) stated that President Donald Trump should have made an “unequivocal calling out of what was going on at the time, when people were storming the Capitol,” but “that didn’t happen.”

Host Martha MacCallum asked, [relevant exchange begins around 3:10] “If you could speak to the president right now, what course of action would you recommend for him tonight?”

Scalise responded, “Well, I think, first of all, a strong understanding of just what happened Wednesday and how words that he gave Wednesday didn’t help, and in fact, caused a lot of real division that didn’t need to be there. I’m very troubled by what happened Wednesday, on a lot of fronts. But again, we all need to check how the rhetoric plays into that, and you know, I think that’s one of those things where it should have been an unequivocal, just complete unequivocal calling out of what was going on at the time, when people were storming the Capitol, to say, without any equivocation, that it was wrong. It shouldn’t be happening. It’s not we are as Americans, and to call it out without any condition, and that didn’t happen.”

HOST: Democratic leadership, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, as well as other Democrats and at least one of House Republican colleagues have called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked or for Congress to impeach. Do you support that?

REP. STEVE STIVERS: I don’t know anything about the President’s mental state, or any of that. The Cabinet decides on the 25th Amendment that is. If the Cabinet decided to do that, I would not oppose it.

McClintock: Trump ‘Betrayed’ Trust of Supporters, His Rhetoric Was ‘Irresponsible’

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Evening Edit,” Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) stated that President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on Wednesday was “utterly irresponsible,” and that while he didn’t tell people to break into the Capitol, he “betrayed” the trust of his supporters.

McClintock dismissed the idea of invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump, stating, “The 25th Amendment is specifically to address physical incapacity of a president. It has nothing to do with bad conduct, which the president is guilty of.”

He further stated that the riots at the Capitol were “the conservative movement, unfortunately, treating the left as their teachers. The moment we allow the left to become our teachers, we lose our country.” And that the riots over the summer “normalized violence in pursuit of political objectives, and that’s simply spreading.”

McClintock later added, “Well, the people that broke into the Capitol were terrorists, but the vast majority of folks that voted for Donald Trump and placed their trust in him, he betrayed their trust. But they’re sincere people concerned about the future of their country and the future of their families.”

He further said, “The president was utterly irresponsible, I think, in the words that he used. But he did not tell them to break into the Capitol and stop the Congress. That was on them.” And that he doesn’t think such irresponsibility rises to an impeachable offense.

Giuliani Says Trump Owes It To MAGA Movement To Declassify Everything

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said President Donald Trump owes it to his supporters to declassify everything before he leaves office.

Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, told former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon on a podcast Friday that the president ought to go on a reclassification spree because there’s “no longer any reason to try to create some kind of harmony.”

“At many times, I thought he was ready to do it, and many times it was blocked by, I have to assume, the force that we now call the ‘deep state,'” Giuliani said.

“I think he owes it, not just to MAGA, he owes it to the American people to put it out,” Giuliani said.

Giuliani, who called for “trial by combat” during a rally Wednesday a few hours before a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building as lawmakers were certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, reiterated to Bannon his unproven claim that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.

“They are beginning a pattern of crooked elections on a major scale,” Giuliani said Friday in reference to the political left. “The election of 2020 was a rigged election. There is overwhelming evidence of it. We possess it.”

Denmark to Rollout Coronavirus ‘Vaccine Passports’ Early This Year

Denmark is set to introduce a government-sponsored coronavirus vaccine passport in coordination with airliners early this year, a national Danish broadcaster has revealed.

The Ministry of Health in Denmark will launch Covid-19 vaccine passport that can be downloaded and printed from a public health website, the government said in an email to the Danish Broadcasting Corporation reported on Friday.

“It is expected that there may be requirements from other countries for the presentation of vaccine documentation upon entry. Here, a Danish vaccine passport can be used,” the Ministry of Health wrote in an email to the broadcaster.

The Danish government said that it is “working on a Covid-19 vaccine passport which is expected to be ready in early 2021.”

The ministry said that it will update the form depending on the future analysis of how long the vaccine is deemed to be effective against the coronavirus.

The section head for Transport at the Confederation of Danish Industry, Michael Svane, backed the move, saying: “A vaccination passport is the way for us to put the restrictions behind us and to a much greater extent get out and fly.”

'Freedom Pass, Please': Boris to Introduce Covid Passports as More Lockdowns Loom https://t.co/ewTaHLZ1ig

— Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) November 22, 2020

The idea of vaccination passports has been gaining traction amongst elites in Europe and the United Kingdom, with former British prime minister Tony Blair calling for the immediate implementation of a “form of a health passport”.

“I know all the objections, but it will happen. It’s the only way the world will function and for lockdowns to no longer be the sole course of action,” Blair said.

Some airlines have already admitted that they plan on requiring vaccination passports to travel internationally, with the CEO of Australian airliner Qantas, Alan Joyce, saying in November that proof of inoculation would be a “necessity” to fly on the company’s aeroplanes.

Internationalist organisations have also been promulgating the idea of vaccine passports, with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Economic Forum (WEC) both looking into the idea.

The WHO is currently developing “smart vaccination certificates” that will create digital vaccination documents.

“Having trustworthy and reliable proof of vaccination for COVID-19 vaccine will be essential for public health purposes, such as studies on vaccine effectiveness, vaccine impact, coverage monitoring and monitoring of adverse events following immunization,” the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe told Newsweek in December.

The World Economic Forum alongside the Commons Project has also been working with airlines such as Cathay Pacific, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Swiss Airlines, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic to develop a “CommonPass” app that would show airlines a travellers vaccination status in the form of a QR code.

Farage: Lockdown Britain on Verge of Becoming a Police State

Brexit leader Nigel Farage warned that lockdowns in the United Kingdom are pushing the country into a full-on police state, predicting that the battle to regain individual liberty will be a tougher struggle than leaving the European Union.

Mr Farage said that is unlikely that the British government will relinquish the emergency powers it has accumulated during the coronavirus crisis.

“Once the state takes power how on earth do we get those powers back? Do we have enough independently-minded MPs in Westminster to challenge the executive once we’re through this crisis to say those powers need to be returned, those liberties and freedoms need to go back to the people?”

“I’m beginning to think that the battle for our individual liberty could be an even bigger battle than the battle to get us out of the European Union,” Farage said.

“It is turning neighbour against neighbour, it is turning people against the police force, and it is not going to stop the spread of this virus,” he suggested.

Mr Farage pointed to a “very disturbing video from Scotland,” in which police burst into a family’s home and threatened them with arrest for allegedly breaching the coronavirus restrictions, when in fact the family’s “guest” was their sick daughter who was recently discharged from hospital.

“Behavior like this does not get citizens on the side supporting the police,” Farage said, adding: “it is going way, way too far.”

Mr Farage said that in the name of fighting the coronavirus, Britain is sacrificing its liberties and freedoms and that there “is a danger we could become something akin to a police state”.

This is what your taxes and capitulating to the government get you.

On Wednesday, London’s Metropolitan Police Service announced that officers have been told to “issue fines more quickly” to those without “reasonable excuses” for being outside of for not wearing a mask.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said that she “completely back[s] the police” demanding to know why people are outside and asking people for proof for why they are out during the latest lockdown, which forbids leaving home except for essential purposes.

The elected police and crime commissioner for the West Midlands Police has also called upon the government to grant police the power to enter the homes of citizens who they believe are violating the lockdown without a warrant.

“For the small minority of people who refuse entry to police officers and obstruct their work, the power of entry would seem to be a useful tool,” said PCC David Jamieson.

Shocked that the US President has been closed down by Twitter.

— Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) January 8, 2021

Shortly after Mr Farage released the video in which he warned about the loss of liberty in Britain, Twitter permanently suspended the sitting President of the United States, Donald Trump.

In response to the move by the Silicon Valley tech giant, Mr Frage said that he was “shocked that the US President has been closed down by Twitter.”

“Not attending the inauguration is hardly encouraging violence. Free speech must win,” he said on Friday night.

False Reports of a New ‘U.S. Variant’ Came From White House Task Force

Reports of a highly contagious new variant, published on Friday by multiple news outlets, were based on speculative statements made by Dr. Deborah Birx.

Reports of a highly contagious new coronavirus variant in the United States, published on Friday by multiple news outlets, are based on speculative statements made by Dr. Deborah Birx and are inaccurate, according to several government officials.

The erroneous report originated at a recent meeting where Dr. Birx, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, presented graphs of the escalating cases in the country. She suggested to other members of the task force that a new, more transmissible variant originating in the United States might explain the surge, as another variant did in Britain.

Her hypothesis made it into a weekly report sent to state governors. “This fall/winter surge has been at nearly twice the rate of rise of cases as the spring and summer surges. This acceleration suggests there may be a USA variant that has evolved here, in addition to the UK variant that is already spreading in our communities and may be 50% more transmissible,” the report read. “Aggressive mitigation must be used to match a more aggressive virus.”

Dismayed, officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tried to have the speculative statements removed but were unsuccessful, according to three people familiar with the events.Agency scientists did not agree with her assessment, according to one frustrated C.D.C. official, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation.

Dr. Birx could not immediately be reached for comment.

The news of a possible new variant first appeared Friday afternoon on CNN, and quickly spread to other outlets. Responding to media inquiries about the variant, the C.D.C. issued a formal statement refuting the theory.

“Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are monitoring all emerging variants of the coronavirus, including in 5,700 samples collected in November and December,” according to Jason McDonald, a spokesman for the agency.

“To date, neither researchers nor analysts at C.D.C. have seen the emergence of a particular variant in the United States,” he said.

Among the variants circulating in the United States is B.1.1.7, first identified in Britain and now driving a surge and overwhelming hospitals there. The variant has been spotted in a handful of states, but the C.D.C. estimates that it accounts for less than 0.5 percent of cases in the country so far.Another variant circulating at low levels in the United States, known as B 1.346, contains a deletion that is also present in B.1.1.7. “But I have seen nothing on increased transmission,” said Michael Worobey, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Arizona who discovered that variant.

That variant has been in the United States for three months and also accounts for fewer than 0.5 percent of cases, so it is unlikely to be more contagious than other variants, according to a C.D.C. scientist who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter.

All viruses evolve, and the coronavirus is no different. “Based on scientific understanding of viruses, it is highly likely there are many variants evolving simultaneously across the globe,” Mr. McDonald, of the C.D.C., said. “However, it could take weeks or months to identify if there is a single variant of the virus that causes Covid-19 fueling the surge in the United States similar to the surge in the United Kingdom.”

Hundreds of Israelis get infected with Covid-19 after receiving Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine – reports

With the vaccine not providing immediate immunity to the coronavirus, over two hundred Israeli citizens have been diagnosed with the disease days after getting the Pfizer/BioNTech jabs, local media reported.

The number of those who got Covid-19 despite being vaccinated was at around 240 people, according to data from Channel 13 News.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, which the Israeli health authorities rely on, doesn’t contain the coronavirus and can’t infect the recipient. But time is needed for the genetic code in the drug to train the immune system to recognize and attack the disease.

The course of the US-made vaccine requires two shots. According to the studies, immunity to Covid-19 increases only eight to ten days after the first injection and eventually reaches 50 percent.

The second jab is administered 21 days from the first one, while the declared immunity of 95 percent is achieved only a week after that. And, of course, there’s still a five percent chance of getting infected even if the vaccine is at its full potential.

Israeli news outlets which reported the figures urged the public to remain vigilant and thoroughly follow all Covid-19 precautions during the month after the first shot of the vaccine is administered.

The Jewish state is currently undertaking a massive vaccination campaign, which already saw over one million people or almost 12 percent of the population getting the Pfizer/BioNTech jab. That’s the largest span per capita in the world, according to Oxford University. The first phase of the program aims to immunize medics and elderly people before expanding on to other categories.

Around one in a thousand people have reported mild side effects after the injection, including weakness, dizziness and fever as well as pain, swelling and redness in the spot where the shot was given. Only a few dozen of them required medical attention, the Health Ministry said.
