We know that POTUS is about to save the Republic. Some of what he does will be new in our history. It was the same with Lincoln, who even arrested and deported a member of Congress! Not proposing that POTUS do that, but the point is, extreme emergencies may require unusual solutions. In our American Republic that can create a conflict between "whatever it takes" and "is it constitutional?"

The ancient Roman Republic dealt with extreme emergencies by temporarily giving all power to a single individual. This happened to a soldier named Cincinnatus, who was twice called out of retirement to save Rome. He was always revered by the Romans, not so much for saving the day, but for saving the Republic by LETTING GO OF POWER AFTERWARD.

I pray that POTUS will be as bold as he needs to be. I pray (as Patton put it) that he will not take counsel of any fears, including overconcern about Constitutional niceties. I pray that he simply does what he has to do, and if necessary, "ask permission later."

Mr. President, the American people in vast numbers lave and support you. I believe God is with you, and with America. Do what you have to do. I know you will do your best - who can do more? And may the world never forget your glorious victory.
