Fans of President Donald Trump appear to be leaving Twitter after the website permanently banned the president’s account.

One Twitter user using the hashtag #GoodbyeTwitter wrote “Before I say #GoodbyeTwitter and #HelloParler, I want to ask everyone to Pray for Our President”

The Associated Press reports that Trump’s supporters have been flocking to Parler, GAB, and other “free speech” social media sites known to cater to conservative voices in the past few days.

>“Large amounts of the population and press were not anticipating the violence and the vitriol yesterday [Wednesday] because it was happening behind closed doors of Parler and GAB instead of Facebook and Twitter," Monica Stephens, a professor at the University of Buffalo who studies social media said. “If they entirely shut out this type of speech it is still going to happen, it is just going to happen where it isn’t as read.”

Ryan Fournier, Founder and Co-Chairman of Students for Trump, posted on Twitter Friday saying he had lost over 60,000 followers in a period of 3 days.

It is unclear how many Twitter users left the website following Trump’s ban but shortly after his ban was announced, the website for Parler crashed
